Regional Medical Director establishes and implements health care policies and standards, evaluates new treatments, and conducts medical research to ensure the quality of the medical care provided to patients for a specified region. Oversees the development of the clinical content in marketing materials. Additionally, Regional Medical Director ensures all regional clinical programs are in compliance with laws and regulations. Develops major goals to support broad functional objectives. Approves policies developed within various sub-functions and departments. Comprehensive knowledge of the overall departmental function.     Summary:

    Supports the dyad of the Medical Director of Perioperative Services and the Regional Director of Perioperative Nursing Services. Together they oversee the overall operations of multiple perioperative sites at Main Campus and all of the Ambulatory Surgery Centers. Advises triad counterparts on those matters involving operational decision making. Ensures the provision of quality care patient services including coordination of physician, nursing, anesthesia, and overall customer services. Reviews, recommends, and implements service enhancements; assumes fiscal responsibility; establishes and maintains an organizational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish regional goals; supervises assigned staff. Participates in strategic business, market and program planning, professional and public education efforts, marketing, and public relations functions. Monitors and develops key performance indications for perioperative services with a focus on cost management and high performance. Develops collaborative relationships with community leaders and community centers to promote MHS service offerings. Develops plans for the expansion, relocation, and remodeling of current and new facilities. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.


    Qualifications:

    Required:

    Bachelor’s Degree in a health-related field or business (i.e., Nursing, Nutrition, Social Work, other Health Profession, or Business Administration), or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in addition to the experience stated below.

    Five years of progressively responsible professional and management experience in a perioperative setting.

    Excellent interpersonal skills required along with experience in working with multi-disciplinary groups.

    Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

    Skill in budgeting, cost analysis, manpower planning, supervision, and operational analysis.


    Preferred:

    Master’s Degree.

    Experience with the operation of health care computer systems.


    Physical Requirements: Ability to sit, stand, stoop, bend, and walk intermittently during the day. May sit or stand for extended periods of time. Ability to use computer. Ability to communicate in face-to-face, phone, email, and other communications. Ability to read job-related documents.
