Develops major goals to support broad functional objectives. Approves policies developed within various sub-functions and departments. Comprehensive knowledge of the overall departmental function. Job Summary:
- Responsible for direction of patient care activities.
- Manages staff in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Supports and empowers them to embrace the mission, vision, and value statement of the hospital.
- Provides management of operational and nursing activities.
- Consults staff, physicians, and Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) on nursing needs and interpretation of facility policies to ensure patient needs are being met.
- Maintains performance improvement activities with the department and participates in quality improvement activities.
- Maintains records pertinent to personnel and operations of the department. Prepares reports regarding services, i.e. utilization, performance improvement, outcome data, productivity, including long-term capital budget and short-term operational budget.
- Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other ancillary departments.
- Performs management activities including interviewing, hiring, evaluating, termination, Nursing Education (ED) Day completion and departmental staffing and scheduling.
- Develops, justifies, and maintains fiscal budget.
- Ensures timesheets are accurately completed as required, Kronos/WFR input and monitoring of attendance.
Skill/Educational Requirements:
- Unencumbered current Colorado Registered Nurse license.
- Current BLS certification.
- Current ACLS certification.
- Current PALS certification
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in acute care nursing.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in supervisory role.
