Regional Medical Director jobs in Santa Fe, NM

Regional Medical Director establishes and implements health care policies and standards, evaluates new treatments, and conducts medical research to ensure the quality of the medical care provided to patients for a specified region. Writes research publications to support clinical service offerings. Being a Regional Medical Director is responsible for strategic clinical relationships with physicians in the region. Oversees the development of the clinical content in marketing materials. Additionally, Regional Medical Director ensures all regional clinical programs are in compliance with laws and regulations. Requires a MD degree. Typically reports to top management. The Regional Medical Director manages a departmental function within a broader corporate function. Develops major goals to support broad functional objectives. Approves policies developed within various sub-functions and departments. Comprehensive knowledge of the overall departmental function.     Los Alamos Medical Center (LAMC) is a 47-bed acute care facility that provides medical services to the people of Los Alamos County and surrounding areas. A healthcare leader in Northern New Mexico, LAMC offers a host of services including 24-hour emergency care, imaging and laboratory services, women's services, urology, oncology, and newborn care, and general and colorectal surgery.

    Los Alamos Medical Center is fully accredited by The Joint Commission and is an accredited Chest Pain Center by the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care (SCPC), the accrediting arm of the American College of Cardiology, has recently acheived NQP Designation.

    This Director position develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.

    Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care deliver, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives.

    Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.

    Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding. Coordinates and directs internal/external audits.

    Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.

    Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.

    Qualifications - External

    Minimum Education:

    Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.

    Required Skills:

    Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

    Basic Life Support (BLS) current upon hire.

    Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)/ENPC to be completed within six (6) months of hire.

    New hires will have ninety (90) days from date of hire to obtain American Heart Association certifications. Notwithstanding this 'grace period' for obtaining American Heart Association certifications, employees are not excused from being current in any and all existing certifications that are required for their position as outlined in the position job description.

    Licenses: Current NM RN licensure or appropriate RN Compact licensure.
