  • Do you love meeting new people and solving problems? The Rescue Mission is seeking a Fulltime Shelter Director to oversee our Syracuse area shelter operations. The Regional Director of Programs is responsible for vetting, training, oversight of daily operations and contract compliance of our 183-bed emergency shelter. This position will develop collaborative relationships with shelter staff and regularly assess the needs of the client we serve in the shelter. This position provides the leadership and oversight of Syracuse housing and day center services. The Regional Director of Program Services is responsible for achieving program goals while leading staff who provide advocacy, referral to substance abuse, and physical and mental health care services to clients who are referred to and living in the emergency and permanent residential program areas. Additionally, this position is responsible for maintaining OTDA and DOH standards and records for all of the Syracuse Programs and clients.

    Duties/Responsibilities:
    Provide day-to-day leadership and management to Syracuse Programs and day center services including staffing, scheduling, provision of program services, and problem resolution.
    Interface and collaborate with management teams to develop and/or implement plans for operational efficiency, thus ensuring high quality program services.
    Motivate and lead a high-performance program team; provide coaching and mentoring to ensure professional development and high quality services.
    Establishes credibility throughout the organization by role modeling and putting into practice the core values of the organization.
    Project a favorable image of the organization to promote its objectives, and foster and enhance public recognition and acceptance of all of its areas of endeavor.
    Ensures successful outcomes by cooperating and effectively communicating with internal and external service providers; facilitating regular case reviews; ensuring accurate and complete client records; providing clinical supervision; developing and tracking outcome measures.
    Enact contingency plans as needed; escalate and direct activities to ensure continuity of services; and escalate issues to management for operational improvement.
    Ensures the quality of program services by developing and monitoring performance measures for key processes; facilitating regular audits of files and records; establishing and maintaining standards of excellence; implementing “best practices”.
    Prepare annual budget (staffing and resources) in collaboration with finance team and its process. Responsible for monitoring budget variances and reporting causes to Executive Team.
    Participate in daily, weekly, monthly, and annual planning process as appropriate.
    Perform all duties and responsibilities in a timely and effective manner in accordance with established organizational policies to achieve the overall objectives of this position.
    Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and participating in professional societies.
    Keep immediate supervisor promptly and fully formed of all problems or unusual matters of significance and take prompt corrective action where necessary or suggest alternative courses of action, which may be taken.
    Participate in rotating on-call schedule. Must have availability after work hours including evenings, overnights, and weekends when on-call.
    Develop individuals for future advancement.
    Promotes a safety-first attitude by setting a positive example and ensuring all employees are following safety policies and procedures.
    Regular and predictable in-person attendance is an essential requirement of the job
    Perform other duties as assigned.

    Requirements:
    Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field required. Master degree preferred.
    5-7 years pervious leadership/operations management experience preferred
    3-5 years’ experience in the field of addiction recovery and/or mental health, advocacy, social work.
    Experience in supervising, coaching and developing staff
    Experience in public development and awareness
    Passion for the mission and vision of the organization
    Public speaking and presentation skills
    A focus on efficient and effective performance-based outcomes across all areas of the organization
    Strong sense of commitment to developing the human capital of the organization
    Record of demonstrable accomplishments involving integration of resources, leading multi-faceted operations and performance of staff.
    Highly responsive to communications from stakeholders, and ability to translate that communication into the required action in response.
    Highly organized and able to work with minimal direction, but willing to take direction as provided and implement.

    Pay/Compensation:
    $80,000 - $90,000 annually
