PURPOSE
The primary focus of the Unit Director position is the responsibility for planning, coordinating, controlling, directing and evaluating the management of a specific unit cost center(s) on a 24-hour per day basis. These functions include the budget, short and long term goals and objectives, and leadership of assigned staff. This also includes planning and coordinating nursing unit activities with other units and departments, serving as a liaison between higher levels of administration and the nursing staff, and ensuring educational development and competencies of the staff.
This position may also require the Unit Director to perform other related duties and activities as assigned by the Director of Ambulatory Procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Graduate of an approved professional school of nursing and currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio.
· Bachelor’s degree required. (Internal candidates will be considered if a Bachelor’s is in progress.) Pursuing Masters in Nursing, Business or other health care field is desirable.
· CNOR Certification preferred.
· Previous Perioperative Management experience required. (Minimum 2years of experience in an administrative position preferred, this is in addition to actual perioperative clinical experience.)
· Maintains currency of ACLS providership and BLS instructorship.
