    Our Director of Operations must be energetic, extremely reliable and have a strong work ethic with safety being a priority. Job duties include, but are not limited to, overseeing and managing the day-to-day activities of the organization to ensure efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness. The person taking on this position will play a pivotal role in driving operational excellence, ensuring the production, transportation, and installation of high-quality products, offering great technical and customer service, all of which contribute to the overall success of the organization. Strong leadership, strategic thinking and a deep understanding of manufacturing and construction processes are essential for the success in this role.

    Essential Job Functions:

    • Strategic Planning: As part of the Leadership Team, collaborate with senior management to develop and implement strategic plans for manufacturing operations that align with the overall business objectives. Participate in monthly (or more often) Leadership Team meeting.
    • Production Planning: Develop and implement production schedules, ensuring optimal utilization of resources, and meeting production targets. Coordinate with other departments to align production plans with overall business goals.
    • Process Optimization: Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality. Implement lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Quality Control: Establish and maintain rigorous quality control standards to ensure that manufactured products meet or exceed customer expectations and industry standards. Implement measures to address and correct quality issues.
    • Inventory Management: Oversee inventory levels to maintain optimal stock levels while minimizing carrying costs. Implement inventory control measures to prevent stockouts or overstock situations.
    • Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team of manufacturing and production staff. Provide direction, support, and coaching to ensure a motivated and high-performing workforce. This includes hiring/firing, performance evaluations, discipline, employee training and development, and setting employee work schedules.
    • Budget Management: Develop and manage budgets for manufacturing operations. Monitor expenses, analyze variances, and implement cost-saving measures while maintaining production efficiency.
    • Equipment Maintenance: Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure the proper functioning and maintenance of manufacturing equipment. Implement preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime.
    • Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with OSHA and WSW safety regulations and standards in all company activities. Implement and monitor safety programs to create a safe working environment for all employees.
    • Supply Chain Collaboration: Collaborate with the supply chain and procurement teams to ensure a seamless flow of materials for production. Develop relationships, and at times lead negotiations with suppliers to optimize costs and ensure a reliable supply chain.
    • Environmental Compliance: Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and implement sustainable practices in manufacturing processes when possible.
    • Performance Metrics: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track and improve manufacturing performance. Analyze data to identify trends and make data-driven decisions.

    Requirements:

    • Prior experience in the specialized Precast Concrete industry along with experience working in the Architectural, Construction, or Structural Engineering industry is preferred.
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Manufacturing, Construction, Engineering, or related field of study is required; however, relevant work experience may be substituted for the educational requirement.
    • Strong team leadership and management skills are a MUST!
    • Maintain a 45 hour or longer work week with various start/end times and occasional weekend work based on scheduling and operational needs (Note – travel outside of the office to jobsites may be required, sometimes including overnight stays).
    • A valid driver’s license is required for operation of company vehicles. Note that this position is safety sensitive due to the use of power tools and equipment.
