We are looking for a dedicated and passionate Restaurant Manager to join our team at Restaurant Matilda at The Henson, opening Spring 2024 in the heart of the Catskills!
The Hotel
The Henson is a newly renovated, thoughtfully designed 16 room boutique inn and restaurant founded by The Hunter Houses and the Michelin-starred chefs behind Contra and Wildair in NYC. We offer an exciting opportunity in a fulfilling and fun environment, working directly alongside owners and chefs deeply passionate about great hospitality, with a strong focus on exceptional food and beverage programs within Restaurant Matilda. Guests at The Henson will be treated to daily curated breakfasts and happy hours, as well as seasonal events, rooftop parties, garden dinners, and more.
The Position
Our Restaurant Manager will be primarily responsible for helping to create and uphold the owners' vision and standards for Restaurant Matilda and bar and prepare for daily operations. This includes tasks that are executed both in service and administratively on the back end.
Requirements
3-5 years of prior restaurant and front of house management experience, preferably in a fine dining environment
Comfortable working 5 full working days including most weekend nights (Thurs-Sun)
Excellent attention to detail and customer service
Exhibits positive attitude and innate sense of hospitality
Highly resourceful, creative problem solver, with a desire to learn
A desire for challenge and proven record for building high-performance teams
Strong team management skills and confidence in own ability to lead and train others
Experience in running payroll, scheduling, staff training
Familiarity with digital POS systems
Proficient in MS Office, Google Workspace, other administration-use tools
Responsibilities
Overall Operations:
Manage day-to-day operations of the restaurant/bar
Manage day-to-day operations of the hotel breakfast, happy hour, and other food and beverage needs of The Henson including private events and weddings
Work closely with owners and hotel general manager to curate the further growth and development of the company as well as its staff
SOP creation and enforcement, uphold standards to hospitality knowledge and competency
Staff Management:
Assist in hiring, training, and employee development of restaurant and bar staff
Maintain a positive restaurant culture and have exemplary leadership skills
HR and payroll responsibilities, including scheduling of FOH and BOH staff to meet restaurant/bar needs
Oversee the Service Manager/Assistant Manager and Events Coordinator in the restaurant
Assist and provide support to staff when necessary
Customer Service:
Provide exceptional service to guests, investigate problematic situations and resolve customer concerns or mitigate problems before affecting customers
Financials:
Must have a strong profit and loss operational knowledge and answer accounting and financial questions by compiling, researching, and interpreting reports
Understand effective budgeting and control beverage and labor cost
Inventory:
Ensure inventory is completed correctly and efficiently on a monthly basis
Compliance:
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations as well as related staff training
