    Summary

    The Regional Sales Manager will lead the machine sales team focused on the sales of new and used Caterpillar construction equipment. This person will play a pivotal role in driving sales growth, managing a team of sales representatives in the field and in our branches, and nurturing relationships with our customers. This role requires a deep understanding of Caterpillar products, a proven track record in sales management, and exceptional leadership and communication skills.

    Essential Functions

    • Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve sales targets and objectives for our industry.
    • Lead, coach, and motivate the sales reps to maximize their performance and drive results.
    • Cultivate and expand relationships with existing customers while actively seeking opportunities to engage new customers.
    • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop compelling sales collateral, presentations, and campaigns that effectively showcase our products and solutions.
    • Analyze sales data, market trends, and customer feedback to identify opportunities for growth, development, and improvement of team.
    • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of sales metrics in partnership with PowerBI.
    • Provide ongoing training and development for inside sales team to enhance product knowledge, sales techniques, and customer service skills.
    • Act as a liaison between the sales team and other departments within our Construction division to facilitate seamless cross-departmental opportunities with excellent internal collaboration and communication.
    • Stay abreast of industry developments, competitor activities, and market trends to inform sales strategies and initiatives.
    • Represent Carolina Cat at industry events, trade shows, and conferences to promote our brand, products, and services.
    • Hold sales team accountable for metrics with aggressive targets for customer contact data quality, customer account activities, quote volume, industry participation, closure rate, gross profit, and revenue growth.
    • Manage team training and development (time & territory management, systems & quoting, merchandising & financing programs, product knowledge, competitive knowledge), sales coverage planning, account development, sales call monitoring, compensation planning, and performance evaluations.
    • Build relationships with OEM representatives to ensure positive collaboration between the dealer, factory, and financing teams.
    • Work alongside team to record sales activities, forecasts market trends, lost sales, and competitor information.
    • Collaborate with Sales Operations to forecast inventory needs relative to customer demand and configurations.
    • Monitors new products or services in our industry and customer industries to ensure that we maintain a competitive position in product offerings as well as customer needs and requirements.
    • Establish high-level relationships with key account decision makers so as to identify business opportunities and challenges.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Education and/or Experience

    • Proof of high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
    • Bachelor Degree, preferably in business development and/or marketing
    • Minimum three years of experience in a Sales management role
    • Senior level management experience
    • 10 years minimum of industry experience.
    • Preferred industry council involvement.

    Computer Skills

    Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint) CRM system

    • Must have demonstrated relationship skills and the ability to work with people from all backgrounds and cultures, internally and externally, with appropriate influence and ability to resolve business issues.
    • Must demonstrate leadership skills to recruit, develop, and retain high performing sales reps.
    • Must have strong analytical, financial, and problem solving skills to prepare deals for customers and to develop sales compensation plans.
    • Must have a good understanding of Caterpillar and the dealer organization so as to effectively develop and communicate business opportunities and challenges.
    • Must communicate effectively across product, industry, dealer, and customer audiences to ensure strategic and tactical alignment with business partners.
    • Must consult and collaborate other departments, other dealers, and OEM representatives to ensure a best-in-class customer experience.
    • Must be able to self-manage assignments and stay current on industry trends, changing technology, and regulations affecting the competitive environment.
    • Must be able to develop and communicate strategic business plans for machine sales.
    • Must understand the Caterpillar product line.
    • Must work safely at all times. Adhere to all applicable safety policies. Comply with all company policies, procedures and standards.
    • Strong product and service knowledge.
    • Must be able to develop and calculate finance solutions for varied customer needs or demands.
    • Must have a strong understanding of the general business (inventory management, asset management, ROI, financial statement analysis).
