Regional Sales Manager manages and directs a sales force to achieve sales and profit goals within a region. Manages multiple districts within a region and adjusts sales goals and procedures as appropriate for each district. Being a Regional Sales Manager designs and recommends sales programs and sets short- and long-term sales strategies. Evaluates and implements appropriate new sales techniques to increase the region's sales volume. Additionally, Regional Sales Manager collects relevant competitors' market information to increase sales volume and market share. May recommend product or service enhancements to improve customer satisfaction and sales potential. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Regional Sales Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Regional Sales Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     The Regional Sales Manager will maintain and grow an existing sales portfolio while pursuing prospective customers for new business opportunities by presenting the benefits of our transportation services.

    The ideal candidate for this position will have previous experience with business development pertaining to Transportation.

    Requirements

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Create new opportunities for growth by soliciting a portfolio of transportation service offerings
    • Identify and target markets within designated geographical areas while qualifying a list of prospective customers from company leads and other publications
    • Determine market strategies and goals for each product and service offering
    • Prospect potential customers via phone sales and sales meetings to obtain pertinent information
    • Accurate data entry and tracking
    • Qualify potential customers based on the capability to provide value regarding their transportation needs
    • Provide a consultative value-added solution that is tailor made for each customer
    • Develop and maintain positive and professional relationships with customers
    • Conduct follow up calls with all customers in a responsive manner by coordinating all information from the different disciplines in a formal response
    • Work closely with operations regarding market conditions, pricing issues and current competition within markets
    • Local and regional travel, as needed

    You’ll also need to have:

    • Excellent presentation skills
    • Expert knowledge of Outlook, Power Point and Excel
    • Create, read, interpret, and improve charts, graphs, and other data
    • Ability to meet sales goals
    • Knowledge of products particularly related to the transportation industry
    • Ability to function in a fast-paced environment while always meeting or exceeding the standards of Bluegrass Dedicated and of our customers
    • Knowledge of marketing principle and strategies related to the transportation industry
    • Proficient in utilization of CRM tools to monitor performance, manage pipeline reports and identifying new business opportunities

    Education and Experience:

    • High School Diploma is required, 
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management or Logistics/Supply Chain Management is highly preferred.
    • One to three years of experience in Transportation business development is highly preferred
