Regional Support Manager manages an operational support function in a specific geographic area providing guidance to branches on matters of compliance, service, and quality.     Hours: Monday through Friday (Shifts will vary; evenings, nights, weekends, holidays)

    Pay Range: $20,800.00 - $27,040.00

    FLSA: Non-exempt

    Reports to: Program Director

    Summary: Coordinates and provides support to PRPSN’s consumer-run self-help clubs/groups to help them organize, self-govern and function in an optimal manner. Develops capacity among peer support group volunteer facilitators. Supports the work of PRPSN through participation in general PRPSN activities.

    Essential Functions: This is not an exhaustive task list, and other duties may be assigned as deemed appropriate or necessary by the Program Manager or Associate Director.     Helps to organize existing clubs/groups and provide assistance to help the meeting function smoothly. Attends approximately 10-15 weekly support groups to provide support and coaching to the group facilitator, monitor program quality, and complete internal billing processes.
    Recruits, trains and supports facilitators and members as they carry on the activities of the club/group. Helps facilitators through personal challenges and develops capacity by connecting them with opportunities for development of peer specialist skills.
    Ensures support groups have reliable facilitators and identifies new facilitators and new group locations. Responsible for developing knowledge of the landscape of social services and mental health agencies operating in the service area, cultivating relationships with agency staff that help in facilitator recruitment, member recruitment and program development.
    Provides outreach to new facilities to inform them about PRPSN services and programs. Provides outreach at various local health fairs and conferences in the mental health field. Regularly attends Service Area Advisory Committee meetings to develop agency relationships.
    Maintains all records and documentation in accordance with PRPSN standards, funding source requirements and general accepted accounting procedures. Responsible for training new facilitators on completing required billing paperwork and internal tracking forms. Responsible for ensuring paperwork is turned in monthly to PRPSN.
    Attends and participates in staff meetings, monthly Supporter and Facilitator meetings, and works cooperatively with other staff. Assists the Program Coordinator in developing new coaching tools and topics. Assists in delivering coaching support during meetings.
    Participate in the roll out of recovery evaluation system for members in support groups. Complete surveys for participating members on a quarterly basis, provide individualized reports as a basis for discussions about recovery.
    Models PRPSN approach, mission and core values in all communication and correspondence.
    Other duties may be assigned.

    Supervisory Duties: Responsible for oversight of approximately 10 volunteer peer group facilitators, including recruitment, coaching and one-on-one support. All are people with lived experience and are currently in recovery.

    Minimin Qualifications: The following are the minimum qualifications, which an individual needs in order to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this position. Please note that the minimum qualifications may vary based upon the department size and/or geographic location. This position requires that the Service Area Recovery Supporter be self-identified as a person with lived (or family) experience with mental illness and the mental health system.

    High School Diploma, some college experience desired. Some experience in the mental health field required. Knowledge of recovery principles and peer specialist competencies highly desired. Peer Advocate training highly desired. Knowledge of or training in evidence based practices such as Wellness Recovery Action Planning or Whole Health Action Management desired. Training in eCPR desired.

    Ability to relate positively to a wide variety of people from various ethnicities and backgrounds. Ability to coach/provide supervision to people from wide variety of educational backgrounds and competencies. Ability to motivate people to try new things and move out of their comfort zone. Ability to empower people to serve themselves, meet their own needs, and advocate for themselves in the public sphere. Ability to be timely with deadlines of paperwork and have self-responsibility.

    Other Position Requirements:
    Peer Advocate Certificate/Training and demonstrated experience in peer support, peer advocacy or self-help. Obtaining the PRPSN Peer Specialist certificate within 6 months will be required for any candidate that doesn’t currently have one.
    Effective English speaking, reading and writing communication skills

    Demonstrated basic computer/word processing skills, including Microsoft office.
    Access to a personal vehicle and current Class C driver’s license or comfortable with taking public transportation in Los Angeles. Ability to pass a background check. Intimate knowledge of service area of the County to which the person is applying highly desired.
    All employees that drive personal vehicles for daily job functions must provide proof of auto liability insurance of a 30,000/60,000 policy upon the first day of employment, maintain required coverage amounts and provide ongoing documentation of continuous coverage.

    Must know or quickly acquire extensive knowledge of local community resources.
