Registered Respiratory Therapist jobs in Anaheim, CA

Registered Respiratory Therapist assists in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with pulmonary disorders. Collects and analyzes sputum, blood, and breath specimens to determine levels of oxygen, carbon dioxide, and other gases. Being a Registered Respiratory Therapist also measures the lung capacity of a patient to determine if there is impaired function. Administers treatment prescribed by a physician for the care of patients with abnormalities associated with the process of breathing. Additionally, Registered Respiratory Therapist assumes primary responsibility for respiratory care treatments, including oversight of respiratory therapy technicians. Requires an associate degree. Requires Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification. Requires State License to Practice. Typically reports to a manager.     Critical Care Transport RT's utilize their training and experience to provide Basic and Respiratory Therapy during ambulance transport. Working alongside specially trained EMT’s, the CCT RT provides direct patient care to patient’s that are on ventilators. Transports are generally for patients whom are being moved between hospitals and/or facilities.

     

    Candidate must have minimum 2 years ER or ICU experience within the past 18 months

    Responsibilities:

    • Represent organization by being courteous, professional, and a patient advocate in all settings.
    • Ensure continuity of services while adhering to all laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures as they pertain to the CCT Program.
    • Maintain thorough familiarity with treatment protocols, response requirements and quality assurance procedures within each assigned system.
    • Demonstrate ability to resolve unusual problems and provide direction.
    • Report any problems and unusual occurrences immediately to the Nurse Manager.
    • Communicate and collaborate with the Nurse Manager on pertinent issues.
    • Prioritize multiple tasks.
    • Work both independently and as a team member.
    • Ability to employ discretion and confidentiality in sensitive areas.

    Qualifications


     

    • High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
    • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification (required) 
    • Minimum of two years in Critical Care experience (required)
    • BLS and PALS certifications (American Heart Association)
    • Ability to read, write and speak English

     

    Experience:

    • Emergency Room Critical Care or ICU: 2 years or CCT RT Transport Experience as an RT in the last 2 years (Required)
    • Respiratory Therapy: 1 year (Preferred)
