Job Summary:
Under the direct guidance of the Associate Academic Dean and leadership of the Vice President of Academic A Provost, the Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs and University Registrar will provide support and direction in the development and implementation of new systems and enhancement of existing systems used to perform the various functions with the Registrar's Office. The Registrar will oversee a staff, including Associate Director of Enrollment Services and Associate Registrar; Associate Director of Enrollment Services and Associate Registrar; Assistant Registrar (2); and Student Services Coordinator, to maintain and improve the foundational structure of the academic program. . As University Registrar, the incumbent is also the university's chief records officer and is responsible for the maintenance of the official records of current and past students.
The Registrar is the officer responsible for oversight and administration of academic and student policies as they pertain to student records and maintenance of all academic information about Furman University students. The Registrar will oversee all functions related to the Registrar's office including course and classroom scheduling, course registration, maintenance of student academic records, transfer credit course postings and the degree audit system, degree validation and graduation certification, enrollment reports, and compliance with academic policies and FERPA regulations.

Responsibilities:
The Registrar is responsible for overseeing the operational aspects of the Registrar's Office including:

management and supervision of staff and operations of the Registrar's Office, coordinating with the offices of Admissions, Financial Services, Financial Aid andStudent Accounts to provide seamless customer service through the Enrollment Services
-
all activities related to course registration and academic records, processes, procedures, publications, and related reports
-
processes and reports related to requests for student information
-
compliance with FERPA, in order to maintain as appropriate confidentiality of student records, and implementation of procedures to ensure compliance with other state or federal regulations
-
all activities related to international student processing and reporting
-
graduation, ordering/issuance of diplomas, and activities associated with commencement ceremonies
-
certifying all university degrees and manages the enrollment records for all students, past and present, of Furman University
-
all test score review (College Level Examination Program (CLEP), Advanced Placement (AP), Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES), etc.), record by exam/exempt, or international credit, assuring the accuracy of review and entry
-
verify student-athlete eligibility in conjunction with Athletics for NCAA reporting
-
updates as appropriate and maintenance of the college Academic Catalog
-
coordinate the building and publication of the University Academic Calendar
-
training and development of personnel in the Registrar's Office, with ability to have multiple functions in office covered by various employees
-
the administration of the Registrar budget
-
working with internal and external staff in development, implementation and training for technology projects, including maintenance and support of Workday.

working with internal and external staff and constituents to oversee resolution of student enrollment transaction issues as they arise.

Relationships:
Continuous contact with members of own work unit and immediate supervisor to plan, coordinate, problem solve, exchange information, and make suggestions related to mutual goals.
Consistent contact with students, parents, faculty, staff, and the public to plan, coordinate, problem solve, present information, and make suggestions related to mutual goals.
Work in consultation with the Associate Academic Dean and Dean of Faculty, as well as serve on various committees such as the Academic Policies Committee.
Qualifications:
The Registrar must have earned a Bachelor's degree, with a minimum of five years of experience in administrative or professional capacities. These include direct responsibility for student records department activities and reports as well as registration activities and reports. The successful candidate is technologically savvy, creative, and proficient in experience working with multiple integrated student information systems (Ellucian Colleague, Workday, Starfish, and Parchment). Demonstrated managerial skills and effective supervision of an academic unit. Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal, and computer skills are required, as well as a demonstrated ability to work within a collaborative and collegial framework, and to foster this ability in others. The Registrar must have the ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, administrators, and other constituents, as well as the ability to work comfortably in and support a culturally diverse environment while also supporting the University's mission and goals related to diversity and inclusivity.
