Registrar oversees university/college's system of student records. Responsible for class registration, assigning classroom space, and updating student records. Being a Registrar ensures that all requirements have been met prior to graduation and that diplomas are factually correct. Determines students who have achieved certain scholastic goals, such as the Dean's List. Additionally, Registrar requires a bachelor's degree. Functioning within the Health System’s mission, values, objectives, policies and procedures the Trauma Registrar maintains the trauma data base. In collaboration with the Trauma Program Manager and Trauma Medical Director, the Registrar will be responsible for prioritizing, coordinating, abstracting, coding and entry of data for the Trauma Registry, both retrospectively and concurrently. The Trauma Registrar is responsible for the collection, completion, and verification of the accuracy of all patient data collected from LMHS trauma patient records. The Registrar creates and maintains clinical and statistical data, AIS coding, ICD-10 CM codes, and abstracts various data elements as required by the American College of Surgeons, the National Trauma Data Bank, and the Ohio State Trauma Registry. Provides Performance Improvement and Quality Resource Management support for the trauma center. Coordinates the Injury Prevention Program and implements teaching strategies that parallel the program’s objectives.
Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Associate’s Degree in related field or three (3) years related Emergency Department administrative experience preferred. Must complete registry specific education within twelve (12) months of hire. .
Licensure/Certification/Registration: Must successfully complete or have previously completed the following within 12 months of hire:
• Trauma Registry Course
• Most recent AAAM’s Abbreviated Injury Scale (AIS) course and certification (CAISS)
• ICD-10 course or refresher every 5 years
Experience: Knowledge and proficiency in medical terminology and anatomy. Experience with ICD-10 coding.
Skills: Must have good verbal and written communication skills; basic computer skills (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with others. Must also demonstrate a personal commitment, to providing community with injury prevention strategies.
