Primary Duties:
A registrar will serve as a receptionist, information gatherer, insurance specialist, public relations, and collector.
Employ proper search criteria in order to obtain accurate Medical Record information per departmental guidelines. Ensure that all patients are entered accurately, thoroughly and in a timely manner in the computer. Bed side registration if needed.
Verify insurance eligibility either by software, telephone or internet websites.
Request, collect, document, and communicate payment requirements for co-pays and deductibles.
Inform patients of their payment options including payment plans, financial assistance programs and compassionate care programs.
Calls patients to complete the ‘pre-registration’ encounter for upcoming services and maintain appropriate work lists to insure all information is obtained prior to service.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required
1-2 years Experience working in a healthcare environment required
Minimum score of 80% on Customer Service Skills, Data Entry, and Medical Abbreviations testing, required.
