Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Registrar contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature.     Job Description

    The College of Southern Nevada (CSN), the largest higher education institution in the state, seeks an experienced Registrar to lead in the restructuring, automation, strategic direction, systems upgrade, staff training, and managerial oversight of processes and functions related to the integrity of student records.

    The Registrar provides leadership for all of the functions performed by the Office of the Registrar personnel to include: academic records management; class schedule publications; academic calendar development; enrollment reporting; transfer credit evaluation; transcript processing; degree conferral; residency determination; grade posting and issuing of academic status alerts; compliance with federal, state and institutional student records laws, regulations, and policies; curriculum revisions/degree audit maintenance; SIS management and upgrades; graduation audits; diploma orders and reviews; and commencement planning assistance.

    This position reports to the Associate Vice President in the Division of Student Affairs with considerable latitude to exercise independent judgment and decision making. The Registrar serves as chair, member and/or a contributor to both permanent and ad-hoc committees on campus; collaborates with faculty and executive officers concerning policies and procedures for registration, record keeping, student performance status, curriculum, etc. The Registrar is also responsible for creating and supporting professional development opportunities for 25 plus staff members to ensure team members act efficiently, are cross-trained, and effectively manage delegated responsibilities. The Registrar is expected to maintain a professional status and keep current by membership in various professional groups in the Registrar's field including American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO).

    Ideal Candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of this position successfully:
    • Proven track record implementing and leveraging existing and emerging technology solutions into the services available from the Registrar's Office, automate registrar processes and improve both the student and faculty experience
    • Experience with business process improvement
    • Excellent problem resolution and project management skills
    • Proven leadership in developing staff competencies in relation to best-practices, technologies, and emerging trends in registrar operations
    • Work experience in an inclusive work setting with a diverse staff and student population
    • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with students, parents, faculty, and staff and other professional college constituencies
    • Demonstrate equally strong customer service and compliance mindsets
    • Must possess high integrity and diplomacy, exhibit flexibility and excellent organizational and prioritization skills, in addition to being detailed oriented

    Minimum Qualifications
    • Master's Degree in student personnel administration, education, or a related field from an accredited institution; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Four years of experience as a registrar or assistant/associate registrar in a college or university setting.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Seven or more years of experience
    • Registrar experience in multi-campus environment
    • Knowledge of and/or experience with strategic enrollment management
    • Experience working with PeopleSoft Student Enterprise System
    • Experience with OnBase Technologies software
    • Evidence of active engagement with in national and/or regional professional communities such as AACRAO
    • Experience developing joint student and academic affairs collaborations to promote student success
    • Experience advancing the college's core values of diversity, equity, inclusion, and antiracism.

    Minimum Starting Salary Range information:

    Administrative Faculty Grade D

    The minimum starting salary is $75,564 - $100,752. The successful candidate will be placed in salary range competitive with those at similarly situated institutions based on education and experience.
