    RMGS, Inc. is currently recruiting a Public Affairs Assistant in Stennis, MS, in support of the Naval Small Craft Instruction & Technical Training School (NAVSCIATTS).

    Roles and Responsibilities:
    • Review and assess external media sources (Early Bird, Chief of Naval Information, clips, the internet, etc.) for information and articles that involve or impact NSW and NAVSCIATTS programs or policies. Disseminate this information internally to senior leadership and Command staff.
    • Plan, research, draft, and review content and development of programs, brochures, fact sheets, multi-media products, and video to highlight Command policies, programs, platforms, and personnel.
    • Assist in drafting public affairs and protocol guidance and recommend policy on public affairs and protocol matters.
    • Assist in the planning, developing, and maintaining the Command intranet for internal communication and public website for external audiences. Write, edit, and review for technical and factual accuracy public affairs content for official Command websites and electronic newsletters, maintaining graphic and editorial content standards.
    • Conduct periodic reviews of Command websites to ensure message alignment, compliance with current Department of the Navy (DON), United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM), and Naval Special Warfare Group-4 (NSWG-4) public affairs requirements, and that programming and links for all pages remain functional.
    • Serve as the Deputy Public Affairs Officer for various Command committees as directed, and interface on a regular basis with higher and lateral offices and agencies within the DON and Department of Defense (DoD).
    • Update websites dedicated to, or communicating information about, NSW to the public by providing current, accurate Command information. Monitor trends and track website data to archive for long-term analysis (number of visitors, most popular web browsers, etc.).
    • Prepare input for NSW and USSOCOM public affairs reports and annual Command History requirements. Coordinate, prepare, and disseminate reports internally.
    • Write, edit, review, and market press releases and media advisories via various print and broadcast media to keep key audiences informed about NAVSCIATTS activities.
    • Assist in responding to media requests and public requests for information ensuring the material conforms to policy and security regulations.
    • Assess potential reaction of general public and affected groups to Command activities involving environmental actions and assist to improve communication between the Command and its public by enhancing understanding of programs and projects.
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with NAVSCIATTS internal audiences, the general public, news media, other military and governmental agencies, and specialized groups and organizations.
    • Comply with policies and procedures as set forth in the company’s Handbook of Policy and Procedure.
    • Comply with the provisions of the corporation’s Standard Practice Procedures manual and DoD 5220.22-M when handling classified information to include generating, marking, storing, handling, and destroying of classified material.
    • Work, cooperate, and communicate, as directed by the Program Manager, with supervisors, team leaders, and coworkers satisfactorily. This includes the professional, mature acceptance of constructive criticism.
    • Write correspondence in a military format, when necessary.
    • Perform data entry on IBM-compatible computers utilizing current versions of Microsoft Windows, and Microsoft Office applications like Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other related programs.
    • Perform other duties as assigned in order to perform services associated with tasks in this Performance Work Statement (PWS)

    Required Qualifications and Experience:
    • Position requires at least three (3) years of specialized experience as described in the position description which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. Specialized Experience is defined as: Researching, analyzing, and applying established best practices in community relations, media relations, internal communications, protocol, video, and photography skills, video editing abilities, and networking abilities required to assist in the management of the organization’s existing communication strategies. Examples may include assisting in the development and delivery of community relations policies and practices, guides or tools for training and awareness for employees and leaders and measuring trends and tangible impacts of new programs to recommend strategic or tactical actions.
    • Must have experience in the use of Microsoft Office suite software, desktop publishing, and multimedia and video editing software.
    • Must have experience in the use of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Bridge, Dream Weaver, Acrobat, InDesign and in the use of Avid.
    • Must have a substantial ability to communicate orally and in writing.
    • Must be able to travel both throughout the Continental United States (CONUS) and outside of the Continental United States (OCONUS) on a regular basis.
    • Must be able to work weekends and evenings.
    • Must be able to perform duties in a moderately demanding physical environment.
    • Must be able to obtain and keep a Secret security clearance.
    • Possess a valid state driver’s license.
    • Be able to obtain and maintain appropriate special licensing/certification for vehicles and equipment required for their specific position. All licensing/certification shall be accomplished at no additional cost to the Government.
