Regulatory Affairs Director oversees regulatory matters and executes the strategy to ensure the organization complies with applicable regulations.     About the Opportunity

    Reports to: Safety Manager

    We are searching for a Regulatory Compliance Professional who will be responsible for being subject matter expert for the Company’s of state and federal operating certificates and regulatory compliance with regard to ATF, DOT/FMCSA and the Company’s Explosives Operating Policy (EOP). This position’s activities will include the formulation and communication of compliance operating procedures, management of the administrative and filing systems, and the hands-on enforcement of such for the entire Company. Said individual, will work with, develop and maintain, an internal compliance programs for each department that is regulated by ATF, DOT, FMCSA, MSHA, OSHA, or any other State or Federal agency.

    What you will be doing:

    • Audit the Company’s state and federal DOT/FMCSA and ATF operating certificates.
    • Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; develops/implements corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues and provides general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future. (Site Security Plans)
    • Interpret, create and recommend policy/systems to comply with all DOT/FMCSA, ATF regulations and EOP.
    • Identify required training to meet requirements for regulatory compliance.
    • Assist in coordination of training through Learning and Development Manager
    • Organize and manage hard copy and electronic files in an orderly manner.
    • Travel as required to various Company locations from Maine to Florida.
    • Review state-issued roadside inspection reports, managing necessary resolutions and certify back to the state entities of corrective actions. Maintain such records for DOT/FMCSA audit process.
    • Maintain professional working relationship with Internal Management of the Company, regulatory authorities, and third-party vendor for DOT compliance.
    • Receive, review, and recommend corrective actions for Company DOT/FMCSA profile.
    • Manage FMCSA portals.
    • Communicate compliance issues to appropriate Department and investigate or coordinate the investigation and develop a system for uniform handling of compliance violations.
    • Provide guidance on enforcement of policies and regulations as they pertain to the scope of the Company’s work environment.
    • Remain current with all DOT/FMCSA and ATF promulgations and applicable regulatory changes.
    • Serve as a liaison to law enforcement and regulatory agencies.
    • Audit Drivers Qualification files maintained by HR Department.
    • Audit DOT random drug and alcohol pool scheduling and testing with third party vendor software managed by HR Department.
    • Provide Safety Professionals training to perform field compliance audits.
    • Oversee and conduct periodic audits of all inventory records in line with EOP standards to ensure compliance with ATF regulations and resolve all errors with internal Management.
    • Oversee and conduct periodic audits regarding all DOT records to ensure compliance to Federal DOT regulations and resolve errors with internal Management.
    • Analyze DOT/FMCSA metrics, create, and recommend action plans based on those metrics in line with the function and/or business objectives.
    • Participate in all scheduled meetings as required.
    • Participate in other safety and job-related meetings as needed.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure, multi-task environment.
    • Proficient and skilled utilizing Microsoft Office Suite, especially strong with Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
    • Thinks and Acts Strategically.
    • Ability to perform essential functions of the position.
    • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
    • Work in an office environment and outside in the field
    • Out of town/state travel
    • Must have a clean criminal record history, and a valid driver’s license with own transportation.

    About You

    You are an experienced compliance professional with at least five years of relevant experience in a compliance role with working knowledge of DOT/FMCSA and ATF regulatory compliance. You are adept at multi-tasking and staying organized, and you are familiar with creating process and policy related to regulatory compliance. You have exceptional and highly effective communication skills with all levels of individuals in a team-oriented environment.
