Regulatory Affairs Director oversees regulatory matters and executes the strategy to ensure the organization complies with applicable regulations.     Job Description

    The Director of Teaching, Learning, and Assessment will be part of the Academic Affairs team, providing leadership and support for faculty professional development related to effective teaching practices, instructional technology, and student engagement strategies. Cultivate positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including faculty, administrators, students, accrediting bodies, and community partners. This position will represent the institution or organization at conferences, meetings, and professional associations to share best practices and contribute to the field of higher education

    Key Responsibilities

    Teaching and Instructional Support: Provide leadership and support for faculty professional development related to effective teaching practices, instructional technology, and student engagement strategies. Ensure curriculum reflects diverse perspectives, promotes inclusivity, and addresses the needs of all learners. Foster a culture of teaching excellence by promoting evidence-based instructional methods and facilitating peer learning and collaboration among faculty. Oversee the implementation of teaching support services, such as faculty mentoring programs, instructional coaching, and teaching workshops. Oversee the Instructional Technology Resource Center to ensure faculty teaching support in online and hybrid modalities as well as Canvas implementation.

    Assessment and Evaluation: Develop and implement institutional assessment strategies to measure student learning outcomes and program effectiveness. Collaborate with programs to design and administer formative and summative assessments aligned with learning objectives and standards. Analyze assessment data to identify trends, strengths, and areas for improvement, and provide recommendations for curriculum enhancements and instructional interventions. Prepare assessment reports for delivery to institutional partners and stakeholders. Work with institutional ALO on other aspects of program and teaching assessment, as needed.

    Accreditation and Compliance: Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and regulatory requirements related to teaching, learning, and assessment. Under the direction of the institutional ALO, coordinate accreditation processes, including the preparation of documentation, self-studies, and site visits. Collaborate with institutional leadership to develop and implement policies and procedures to support educational quality and compliance.

    Prior Learning Assessment: Conduct training sessions to assist faculty and staff in understanding their roles in the PLA process. Meet with employers and other state agencies as requested by the VPAA to explain the process for petitioning credit for prior learning. Coordinate, in collaboration with academic units, all Prior Learning Assessments (PLA) including, but not limited to challenge examination, credential reviews, military reviews, advanced placement, independent study and portfolio development. Advise students seeking PLA credit. Develop and administer PLA program goals and plan for ongoing assessment of PLA for continual improvement.

    Educational Research and Innovation: Stay abreast of current trends, research, and innovations in teaching, learning, and assessment. Lead or participate in educational research projects to evaluate the effectiveness of instructional practices, interventions, and educational technologies. Identify opportunities for innovation and improvement in educational programs and recommend strategies for implementation.

    Stakeholder Engagement and Communication: Cultivate positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including faculty, administrators, students, accrediting bodies, and community partners. Communicate regularly with stakeholders to provide updates on teaching, learning, and assessment initiatives, solicit feedback, and address concerns. Represent the institution or organization at conferences, meetings, and professional associations to share best practices and contribute to the field of higher education.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Master’s or doctoral degree in education, curriculum and instruction, educational leadership, or a related field.
    • A minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in higher education or a relevant educational setting, with a demonstrated track record of leadership in teaching, learning, and assessment.
    • In-depth knowledge of pedagogical theories, curriculum design principles, assessment methods, and educational research methodologies.
    • Strong analytical skills and experience with data-driven decision-making and program evaluation.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
    • Familiarity with instructional technology tools and learning management systems.
    • Commitment to equity and inclusivity in education.
    • Experience working in online learning formats.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with accreditation processes and standards.
    • Experience utilizing educational achievement/career assessments or other experience in Prior Learning Assessment.

    Additional Information

Salary will be between $90,000 - $100,000 per year, commensurate with education and experience.
