Regulatory Affairs Manager manages regulatory matters and executes the strategy to ensure the organization complies with applicable regulations. Implements processes and systems to ensure that all necessary licensing, filings, certifications, and permits are processed and monitored. Being a Regulatory Affairs Manager utilizes established monitoring policies and procedures to ensure compliance with existing regulations. Anticipates new or changing regulations and coordinates with internal stakeholders to develop strategies to address changes in product, operations, or testing requirements.     Job Description

    The Broken Arrow Chamber is the leading voice to Broken Arrow businesses on legislative issues and advocates to ensure a pro-growth, pro-business environment. The Manager of Government Affairs works to ensure this is accomplished through directing and managing the local, state, and federal government relations efforts of the Chamber, managing advocacy staff and lobbyists, PAC activities and managing committees or other activities as needed in order to carry out the government relations functions of the organization. The Government Affairs Manager is responsible for the development of legislative programming and ensuring the necessary financial support to build the program for the Broken Arrow Chamber of Commerce.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Coordinating all government affairs activities of the Chamber at the city, county, state and federal level
    • Work with the Chamber Board and CEO to develop pro-business legislation that will support economic development in the city, region, and state.
    • Develop legislative programming and ensuring the necessary financial support to build the program for the Broken Arrow Chamber of Commerce
    • Provide research, position papers and recommendations on issues to staff, committees, and Board.
    • Track legislation at all levels, providing information to elected officials, representing the interests of business in accordance with our agenda.
    • Provide regular information regarding Public Policy issues pertaining to the Chamber’s mission in the Chamber newsletter, social media and other relevant distribution avenues.
    • Represents Chamber in areas of government and public affairs by attending specific meetings and is a registered lobbyist who initiates and maintains contact with appropriate government officials, both elected and appointed.
    • When directed, organize lobbying efforts on issues of interest to Chamber Board of Directors.
    • Coordinate events relevant to government and legislative affairs issues including forums, dinners, BA Day at the Capitol, Washington DC Fly-In
    • Implement and manage Broken Arrow Chamber Political Action Committee and assist in raising funds
    • Build relationships at the City and County levels, tracking agendas and attend meetings as appropriate.
    • Serve as resource for staff, Board, Business Advocacy Committee and members on matters of Public Policy.
    • Attend city council meetings to represent the Broken Arrow Chamber and business community
    • Provide Government Affairs support as contracted by other organizations.

    • Proficient in Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, and other software programs including CRM.
    • Highly motivated self-starter that possesses strong organizational, analytical and time management skills to be able to handle multiple projects and priorities, anticipate the needs of prospects and exhibits good follow-through skills with minimal supervision.
    • Requires a high degree of flexibility, cooperative skills, communicative skills, facilitative skills, and team skills.
    • Flexibility to work travel as necessary (3-8 trips per year) and work nights and weekend occasionally.

    Experience Level

    • Two plus years working in the political and/or legislative process
    • Knowledge of the legislative processes at the local, state and federal levels
    • Demonstrated experience helping advise and update leadership on legislative and political issues
    • Strong analytical and project management skills
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate with team members

    Education Requirement:

    Bachelor’s Degree in business, economics, political affairs or similar field or equivalent experience.

    • May be required to lift up to twenty-five (25) pounds

    Working Conditions/Environmental Exposures

    • Work is normally performed in a climate-controlled office or other human factors friendly environment
    • Noise level is moderate and includes sounds of normal office environment
    • No environmental hazards are encountered in performance of normal job duties
    • Position requires some travel outside the state of Oklahoma via car and/or airplane
    • Ability to sit for extended periods may be required

    Base Salary and Benefits

    • The position is full-time salaried position, salary depending on experience
