Regulatory Affairs Specialist jobs in Macon, GA

Regulatory Affairs Specialist supports the oversight of regulatory matters and strategy implementation to ensure the organization complies with applicable regulations. Prepares filings and tracks applications for licensing, certification, and permits and interacts with governmental officials during the regulation and certification process. Being a Regulatory Affairs Specialist monitors compliance with existing regulations and upcoming or changing regulations. Performs impact analysis of regulatory changes and produces status reports. Additionally, Regulatory Affairs Specialist participates in processes to report, investigate, and addresses any issues of non-compliance. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Regulatory Affairs Specialist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Public Policy Governmental Affairs Specialist

  • DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

    • Assist in the development of GFB policy.
    • Conduct legislative meetings for county Farm Bureaus and outside groups.
    • Assist county Farm Bureaus in their local legislative activities.
    • Lobby elected officials on behalf of GFB.
    • Research legislation and write GFB position papers.
    • Research and compose testimony for volunteer members.
    • Provide legislative information to membership through news articles, bulletins, etc.
    • Assist with departmental meetings and events.
    • Work with GFB Issue and Commodity Committees managed by the Department.
    • Generally, represent the organization in a positive way.

    OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES/REQUIREMENTS

    • Willingness to travel and periodic overnight stays, occasionally out of state.
    • Willingness to relocate residence to Bibb County or a surrounding county.
    • Frequent travel by air, train, & automobile.
    • A valid Georgia Drivers' License is required at all times, and must be able to obtain other licenses or credentials that might be required for this job.
    • Frequent overnight travel to Atlanta, Georgia is expected, as well as to other locations on occasion, sometimes for a week at a time.

    QUALIFICATION, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelor's degree preferred, preferably in agriculture, political science, or related field; farm, agri-business, or Farm Bureau experience helpful.
    • Should have a proven record of responsibility, good attendance, and the ability to handle confidential information.
    • Excellent communication skills are required for this job.
    • Written skills include concise letter writing, news articles, position papers, and the ability to research legislative and legal documents.
    • Verbal skills include the willingness and ability to frequently speak in public and lead meetings.
    • The job also requires the ability to discuss GFB’s position with legislators in a well-reasoned, non-confrontational way.
    • Computer skills are required to make presentations, do research, and make reports.
    • Organizational skills are necessary to plan events and coordinate activities of participants.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    None

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    • The Governmental Affairs Specialist will spend many hours at the State Capitol. The job demands long periods of standing, walking, negotiating stairs, carrying boxes of materials, etc.
