Assists in developing procedures to ensure regulatory compliance. Being a Regulatory Relations Specialist gathers data pertaining to organizational projects and their impact on the regulation process. May require a bachelor's degree. EDUCATION:
A bachelor's degree and a Juris Doctor degree from an American Bar Association accredited school.
PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION:
A member in good standing of the Maryland State Bar Association, OR licensed to practice law in another state, with the condition that Maryland law license is required within two years of hire date.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in the practice of corporate, regulatory, contract or legislative law. Previous experience in electric utility industry is highly desirable.
JOB KNOWLEDGE:
Understanding of civil and regulatory law concepts and principles. Proficient at interpreting contracts, legislation, regulations, and corporate policies and procedures.
ABILITIES AND SKILLS:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Comfortable and effective dealing with people from varied backgrounds and possessing varied skill sets. Computer literate with a sound working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Generally accepted office conditions. Overtime may be necessary at times. Occasional overnight travel will be required in the performance of work responsibilities and representation of the Cooperative at various professional and association meetings.
