    Job Summary

    The Community Relations Specialist is a seasonal temporary position, with potential to develop into a year-round part time position. This employee helps implement community relation initiatives with the Louisville Pure Tap On-the-Go program.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    Assist the Public Relations Specialist in managing requests for Louisville Water to be involved in community functions. This includes:

    • Fielding requests through email, Louisville Water's website, or by phone.
    • Weekly meetings to review requests for feasibility and alignment with outreach goals.
    • Ongoing communication with event coordinators to confirm details, schedule site visits, coordinate water quality testing, etc.

    Serve Louisville Pure Tap at community functions via Pure Tap On-the-Go mobile units or 5-gallon coolers. Workload requires:

    • Determining all equipment needs and loading supplies.
    • Driving a company vehicle (transit or cargo van) to and from event location.
    • Correctly and safely setting up all equipment for water service, including connecting to the water source, flushing the water lines, and ensuring equipment remains in proper working order throughout event.
    • Setting up other ancillary event materials, including tents, tables, signage, marketing materials, etc.
    • Maintaining water station appearance and quality throughout event, including frequent sanitization, restocking ice, refilling coolers, etc.
    • Breaking down all equipment and putting away/sanitizing materials after events.
    • Ongoing equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, organization, and process improvements throughout the season.

    Talk to customers and function as a representative of Louisville Water at community functions:

    • Community Relations Specialists should seek to engage with customers as much as possible to promote the quality, taste, and value of Louisville Pure Tap
    • May be asked to highlight other Louisville Water initiatives at events, and/or assist the outreach team with other strategic campaigns and special projects throughout the season.
    • Customer Relations Specialists are the face of Louisville Water in the community. Often, they are the only Louisville Water employees that customers see face to face. As such, staff should aim to be friendly, outgoing, and polite when engaging with the public.
    • Solid knowledge of Louisville Water's history and programming is a plus, but not required.

    Assist in the maintenance and coordination of Louisville Water's 5-gallon cooler rental program:

    • Review and approve/deny customer requests.
    • Utilize equipment tracking software to manage rental assignments and inventory.
    • Prep rentals and other ancillary materials for customer pick-up.
    • Clean and disinfect coolers following all rentals. Cleaning may be necessary multiple times per week during busy season.

    Assist with the management and distribution of Pure Tap products and equipment, to include:

    • Maintaining adequate inventory of Pure Tap supplies, to include bottles, cups, coolers, mobile units, and other materials necessary for the maintenance and sanitization of equipment.
    • Picking up inventory from off-site storage facilities and transferring materials between Louisville Water locations.
    • Delivering Pure Tap equipment and donated materials to Louisville Water partners and customers as needed.

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    This is a seasonal temporary position that typically runs March 1st through October 31st, with the potential to develop into a part time, year-round position pending employee performance and interest/availability. Employment starts and end dates may be flexible for the right candidate. Please note there is no requirement or expectation for employees to stay on beyond the stated events season. Candidates should have flexible availability to accommodate evening and weekend events. Schedule and hours will vary from week to week based on need, not to exceed 40 hours. Employees will be guaranteed at least one weekend off per month plus all major holidays.

    This employee will spend most of their time outside of an office and should enjoy being outdoors and working with the public. This job includes regularly lifting equipment up to 50 pounds, working on one's feet, and working outdoors in summer weather conditions. A valid driver's license is required for employment.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    High school diploma or equivalent; and

    Two (2) years' experience in communications, customer service (or comparable public-facing experience) or two years previous work experience at Louisville Water.
