Rehabilitation Director directs the programs and staff of the rehabilitation services department. Sets and implements guidelines for rehabilitation programs such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and other therapies. Being a Rehabilitation Director develops and implements policies and procedures pertaining to staffing and the budget for the department. Maintains working relationships with community agencies. Additionally, Rehabilitation Director monitors treatment and progress of patients. May require an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. The Rehabilitation Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. To be a Rehabilitation Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     Responsibilities:

    Leadership and Strategy:

    • Provide visionary leadership to the rehabilitation services department, setting strategic goals and objectives.
    • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of rehabilitation services.
    • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment to enhance team cohesion and performance.

    Clinical Oversight:

    • Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of rehabilitation programs to meet the needs of diverse patient populations.
    • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices in rehabilitation services.
    • Monitor and assess the quality of patient care through regular reviews, audits, and feedback mechanisms.

    Team Management:

    • Recruit, train, and mentor rehabilitation staff, including physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech-language pathologists.
    • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to support professional growth.
    • Foster a culture of continuous learning and development within the rehabilitation team.

    Collaboration:

    • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, and case managers, to coordinate patient care and optimize treatment plans.
    • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and caregivers to ensure a collaborative and patient-centered approach to rehabilitation.

    Resource Management:

    • Manage budgetary resources effectively, including equipment, staffing, and operational expenses.
    • Identify opportunities for improvement in resource utilization and implement cost-effective measures.

    Qualifications:

    • Current Florida license in one of these disciplines OT, COTA, PT, PTA, SLP  
    • Proven experience in a leadership role within a rehabilitation services setting.
    • Strong knowledge of industry regulations, accreditation standards, and best practices.
    • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a multidisciplinary team.
