Rehabilitation Director directs the programs and staff of the rehabilitation services department. Sets and implements guidelines for rehabilitation programs such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and other therapies. Being a Rehabilitation Director develops and implements policies and procedures pertaining to staffing and the budget for the department. Maintains working relationships with community agencies. Additionally, Rehabilitation Director monitors treatment and progress of patients. May require an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. The Rehabilitation Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. To be a Rehabilitation Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     The Director of Rehabilitation manages activities of the Rehabilitation Department including clinical assessments and treatments, clinical documentation, compliance, billing, case management and the execution of Clinical Policies and Procedures. Provides quality Rehabilitation Services in licensed field (Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy or Speech Language Pathology). Functions as liaison between all departments involved in reimbursement at the facility level regarding rehabilitation.

    Must have an active state license in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy or Speech Language Pathology and meet the educational requirements as defined in the job description for that license type.

    2 Years of experience in Skilled Nursing Facility Rehabilitation is preferred

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following. Additional duties may be assigned.

    Overall coordination of all activities and services provided by the rehabilitation department.

    Helps coordinate admissions of residents requiring skilled rehab services.

    Evaluates, develops, organizes, and implements resident care programs through the utilization of selected treatment procedures in individual and group sessions.

    Daily determines and schedules staff relative to patient needs to meet PPS requirements and meet efficiency standards.

    Coordinates the rehab requirements and the plan of care of each resident.

    Conducts patient referral marketing in conjunction with admissions’ programs.

    Assures completion of required quality assurance and program evaluation activities.

    Completes required HR functions including interviewing candidates, posting job openings, conducting performance/competency reviews, monitoring time sheets and managing the progressive discipline process.

    Manages own caseload in all areas of identifying residents through screening process and scheduling treatment individually or in groups while maintaining efficiency expectations.

    Provides oversight and direction of rehabilitation personnel and assists in the supervision and education of affiliating students.

    Complies with ethical, regulatory, procedural, and professional standards and practice guidelines.
