Rehabilitation Director directs the programs and staff of the rehabilitation services department. Sets and implements guidelines for rehabilitation programs such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and other therapies. Being a Rehabilitation Director develops and implements policies and procedures pertaining to staffing and the budget for the department. Maintains working relationships with community agencies. Additionally, Rehabilitation Director monitors treatment and progress of patients. May require an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. The Rehabilitation Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. To be a Rehabilitation Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     Director of Rehab Responsibilities

    • Evaluate a Resident’s condition and oversee the therapy department.
    • Attend meetings to oversee the quality and care of the therapy department.
    • Help Residents through their tasks and monitor their performance.
    • Inform Residents what they should anticipate in different stages of their recovery and how they will handle each situation.
    • Maintain Resident confidence and protect facility operations by keeping information confidential.
    • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by protecting Residents and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
    • Comply with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements.
    • Contribute to inter-disciplinary team efforts in resident care.

    Director of Rehab Requirements

    • Must be a graduate of an accredited PT/OT/SLP/COTA/PTA program.
    • Must hold current and active therapy license or registration in state employed.
    • Experience as a Director or Rehabilitation or an ADOR.
    • Completion of orientation required by company policy.
    • Health screening and TB test within two weeks of employment.
    • Become familiar with and comply to all local, state, and federal regulations relating to the job.
    • Show within three (3) days of hire satisfactory evidence of identity and eligibility for employment.
