Rehabilitation Director directs the programs and staff of the rehabilitation services department. Sets and implements guidelines for rehabilitation programs such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and other therapies. Being a Rehabilitation Director develops and implements policies and procedures pertaining to staffing and the budget for the department. Maintains working relationships with community agencies. Additionally, Rehabilitation Director monitors treatment and progress of patients. May require an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. The Rehabilitation Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. To be a Rehabilitation Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Groundbreaking cardiac procedures at Dominican include the Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) procedure, which allows for heart valve replacement without opening a patient’s chest.

The hospital offers a level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) through a partnership with Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford.     A CommonSpirit Health Nurse Resident is a new graduate direct clinical care registered nurse (RN) who continues to develop nursing knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors introduced in formal education as they transition into practice. They are expected to demonstrate the appropriate competency in both core and functional areas, listed below.

     

    Progression is expected in the areas of leading through mission vision and values, patient/customer focus, taking ownership, health care knowledge, teamwork, clinical performance improvement, service excellence, decision making and critical thinking, and patient safety.

    Required Education and Experience:

    • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a
      minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Nursing
      required
    • 0-12 months of professional nursing (RN) experience

    Preferred:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN)
      preferred

    Required Licensure and Certifications:

    • Active License as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State in which s/he will be practicing or the state of primary residency if the state is a Nurse Licensure Compact state.
    • BLS certification - American Heart Association
    • Additional certifications may be required based on
      population(s) served and services provided

     

    Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training:

    • Ability to deliver excellence in patient care through assessing,
      formulating nursing diagnoses and establishing
      goals, planning and implementing intervention,
      and evaluating patient care outcomes.
    • Read, analyze, and interpret hospital policies and
      procedures, professional journals, technical
      procedures, or governmental regulations.
    • Write reports and procedures, and document in the
      medical record.
    • Effectively present information and respond to
      questions from co-workers, managers,
      patients, physicians, family members and the general public.
    • Calculate figures and amounts such as
      weights, dosages, flow rates, proportions,
      percentages and volume.
    • Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages,
      ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
    • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and
      draw valid conclusions.
    • Interpret an extensive variety of technical
      instructions in mathematical or diagram form
      and deal with several abstract and concrete
      variables.
    • Critically think and problem solve.
    • Read, write and speak English.
    • Must be able to complete entire program with a perfect attendance record
    • Must be able to work 3 days per week after completing first 12 weeks
    • Must be able to work and train on either night or day shifts including holidays
