General Description of Assistant Director of Nursing (ADNS)
Responsible for performing a variety of duties to provide quality nursing care to residents and to: coordinate total nursing care for residents; implement specific procedures and programs; participate with the Director of Nursing Services and the Nurse Manager in establishing specific goals; determine work procedures and expediting work flow; comply with all operating policies and procedures, state requirements, Department of Health regulations, and Federal Health Care Administration regulations; communicate with and supervise appropriate personnel; provide daily reports and other periodic reports, and, perform other appropriate nursing duties as needed.
Essential Duties of ADNS
1. Perform various duties to provide quality nursing care to residents to maintain or attain the highest practical level of functioning and to coordinate total nursing care for the residents.
2. Verifies that a sufficient number of qualified supervisory and supportive nursing personnel are assigned for each unit/shift to meet the resident needs.
3. Assists the Director of Nursing in the planning of staff development programs that will enhance staff knowledge of quality resident care.
Qualifications Needed for Assistant Director of Nursing Education/Training:
Maintains a current, valid license as a Registered Nurse / RN in good standing. Must have current CPR certification. Long-term care experience preferred but not required.
