Rehabilitation Director - Nursing Home directs the programs and staff of the rehabilitation services department for a nursing home. Develops and implements rehabilitation programs by working with the operational leadership team and medical staff. Being a Rehabilitation Director - Nursing Home sets and implements guidelines for rehabilitation programs such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. Responsible for the direction, planning, and operation of the rehabilitation function. Additionally, Rehabilitation Director - Nursing Home develops and implements policies and procedures regarding staffing and budget. May require an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. May require a professional certification. The Rehabilitation Director - Nursing Home typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     POSITION SUMMARY:

     

    As the Director of Rehabilitation, it is your responsibility to organize, develop, manage, and direct the overall operations of the Rehabilitation Service Department in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations that govern the community.  The Director of Rehabilitation will seek to return the resident to the optimal physical function and facilitate achievement of resident, Physician, and therapy goals.  Follows all health, sanitary and infection control policies and maintains established standards of practice set forth by the community's administration and Rehabilitation Policies and Procedures.

    Qualifications/ Responsibilities:

    • Must possess hold a valid and current license as a therapist or therapist assistant granted from the state of employment.
    • Participate in community planning related to the interests of the facility and the services and needs of the resident and family
    • Participate in discharge planning, development and implementation of social care plans and resident assessments
    • Interview resident/families to obtain social history
    • Refer resident/families to appropriate social service agencies when the facility does not provide the services or needs of the resident
    • Provide information to resident/families as to Medicare/Medicaid, and other financial assistance programs available to the resident
    • Provide consultation to members of our staff, community agencies, etc., in efforts to solve the needs and problems of the resident through the development of social service programs
    • Previous experience required, experience in PDPM preferred
