Summary Description:
Farm Staff will perform and assist in all routine agricultural labor while engaging with clients, providing vocational rehabilitation. This individual will work autonomously and as a member of a team to accomplish the day-to-day operations of the farm and nursery work.
Requirements:
● 18 years or older.
● Must possess a valid driver’s license with acceptable driving records as defined in CBI’s employee handbook.
● Must have reliable transportation.
● Must possess as a minimum educational requirement a High School Diploma or GED.
● Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
● Be of good moral character.
● Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
● Ability to read small print and handwriting.
● Ability to hear emergency sirens and alarms.
● Ability to perform work tasks outside, in all types of weather, including extreme heat and rain.
● Ability to provide & receive verbal communication.
● Possess fine motor skills to write reports and track daily data.
● Ability to complete basic mathematic functions.
Responsibilities & Duties:
● Engage in all facets of the growing process from seed to harvest.
● Work quickly and efficiently to finish daily and weekly tasks laid out by the Farm Manager
● Available at least 1 weekend a month for weekend farm chores (growing season). Chores include: watering, venting, covering, and uncovering crops. Weekend shifts typically last for 30-60 min. twice a day.
● Participation in staffing booths at local farmer’s markets periodically.
● Supervising clients directly or is aware of general whereabouts of clients (depending upon assessed level of assistance needed).
● Follow general safety practices, documents and reports any unsafe conditions to supervisor.
General Labor Duties:
● Participate in all aspects of general farm labor, including but not limited to: bed prep, planning, seeding, planting, thinning, mulching, fertilizing, establishing crop supports, harvesting, washing, packing, storing, deliveries, mowing, tilling, livestock chores, crop monitoring, watering, irrigation setup & teardown, equipment maintenance, cleaning, weeding, and pest control.
● Complete repetitive manual labor tasks in a timely, efficient manner, according to the Farm Managers standards.
● Participation in light construction projects, requiring ability to operate hand tools, and power tools.
● Work alongside individuals with varying degrees of physical and cognitive abilities.
● Supervise activities for clients while enforcing safety guidelines.
● Operate farm truck for purchase runs and deliveries.
Additional duties as assigned.
