Preference will be given to candidates who possess certification from the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification, the Commission for Case Managers Certification, or the Certification of Disability Management Specialists Commission. Additionally, individuals with a graduate degree in rehabilitation counseling from an accredited program or a master's degree in psychology, counseling, or a related field will be favorably considered.
Preference will be given to candidates who speak Spanish with professional proficiency.
Minimum Qualifications: Vocational Counselors
Qualified applicants must either possess certification or be eligible for certification as rehabilitation counselors in Oregon. Certification can be obtained through one of the following national certifying bodies:
1. The Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CRCC)
2. The Commission for Case Managers Certification (CCMC)
3. The Certification of Disability Management Specialists Commission (CDMSC)
Alternatively, a master's degree in vocational rehabilitation counseling coupled with a minimum of six months' direct experience or a master's degree in psychology, counseling, or a related field along with a year of direct experience, will meet the qualifications. Specific certification criteria, including details about qualifying direct experience, are outlined in OAR 436-120-0810(3).
Successful applicants must pass a criminal background check and have had fewer than two moving violations on their driving records within the past three years.
Rehabilitation professionals at Cooley Associates collaborate with Oregon workers' compensation claimants and providers, undertaking diverse responsibilities. These include vocational rehabilitation counseling, eligibility assessment, vocational evaluation, job development, training plan formulation, job analysis, labor market surveys, residual employability assessment, and more. Counselors will also provide consultative guidance, suggesting and implementing various "optional" services that can enhance the vocational prospects of injured workers/claimants. You will navigate matters related to Oregon Administrative Rules while effectively communicating with claimants, attorneys, employers, and insurers.
Travel within the State will be necessary, ranging from 10% to 30% of your monthly workload, contingent on caseload distribution. Possessing reliable transportation and a clean driving record is imperative. Mileage reimbursement will be based on the federal mileage rate.
All roles require adeptness in written communication. Successful candidates will be tasked with producing professionally written reports for their monthly caseload. A writing assessment may be conducted as part of the hiring process. Compensation will be determined based on experience and qualifications.
