Old Republic Risk Management (ORRM) is currently seeking a Reinsurance Accountant to join its Reinsurance Accounting Team at its company headquarters in Brookfield, WI. In general, the Reinsurance Accountant will:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Update and maintain reinsurance structure for all assigned new and renewal accounts.
• Process reinsurance premium transactions.
• Process and review certificates received from reinsurers. Compare the certificates to the account summary, the reinsurance structure, and the corresponding worksheets.
• Complete expiration packet when the policy year expires.
• Review excess losses and process reinsurance recovery memos.
• Maintain integrity of reinsurance system, computer files, and account books.
• Update various Excel spreadsheets and Access databases. Run various Showcase queries.

QUALIFICATIONS:
This position requires an Associate’s degree in Accounting, or equivalent, and a minimum of one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Working as a Reinsurance Accountant requires one to work independently and effectively within a fast-paced environment. Proficiency with Microsoft (MS) Windows and Office products is necessary. Other skills necessary include excellent oral and written communication skills, strong organizational and accurate proofreading skills, the ability to maintain accurate records, the ability to exercise discretion with confidential information, strong attention to detail, and the ability to use a variety of office equipment.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:
This position requires one to sit for extended periods of time and stand and/or walk occasionally. The position requires one to occasionally push, pull, carry, and/or lift up to 10 pounds. No personal protective equipment is required. Ergonomic equipment is available to employees.
