Reinsurance Specialist performs routine reinsurance administrative duties, such as maintaining records, processing and verifying new business. Organizes the preparation of monthly and annual reports and ensures reinsurance information has been recorded accurately. Being a Reinsurance Specialist performs reconciliation of premium billing statements and DAC tax calculations and maintenance of various reinsurance operations. Researches and resolves the more complex cases and provides guidance to others. Additionally, Reinsurance Specialist may review work performed by others and train new staff. Works towards industry designations (e.g., FLMI, ARA, ACS, etc.). Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Reinsurance Specialist gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. The Workers’ Compensation Reinsurance Association (WCRA), a nonprofit association providing workers’ compensation reinsurance coverage to all Minnesota insurers and self-insurers, is seeking an individual for the position of Premium Auditor.
This position is responsible for accurately determining the final policy premium for Workers' Compensation Policies by validating class codes assigned to each policy, confirming the proper payroll, and setting modification factors. This is done through data collection, analysis, review of relevant records, and discussions with members over the phone or through email. Members range from small companies to large corporations/groups with complex operations.
