Reinsurance Specialist performs routine reinsurance administrative duties, such as maintaining records, processing and verifying new business. Organizes the preparation of monthly and annual reports and ensures reinsurance information has been recorded accurately. Being a Reinsurance Specialist performs reconciliation of premium billing statements and DAC tax calculations and maintenance of various reinsurance operations. Researches and resolves the more complex cases and provides guidance to others. Additionally, Reinsurance Specialist may review work performed by others and train new staff. Works towards industry designations (e.g., FLMI, ARA, ACS, etc.). Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Reinsurance Specialist gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     This is a temporary position meant to cover a leave of absence, but also has potential to last longer for placement on different projects. This is a specialized position under the general direction of the City Clerk. The Records & Licensing Specialist is responsible for the management, issuance, retention, and disposal of all City records including new and past records.

    Responsibilities:
    The position serves to develop, recommend, and implement manual and/or automated records filing and retrieval systems processes/procedures in a cost-effective manner. The position participates in the preparation, distribution and maintenance of official records and documents; is the primary point of contact for staff and the public on processing for licensing and permits; provides record retrieval assistance to the public, as well as to the Mayor, City Council, and staff; provides support as required in all aspects of the duties of the City Clerk; and any other duties as directed by the City Clerk. It is the responsibility of this position that all work is completed in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and ordinances as well as the rules, regulations, policies, and operating procedures for the Clerk Department.

    Working hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

    Skills:
    • Required: Must obtain and maintain as a Notary Public appointment within the first 120 days of employment as a condition of continued employment.
    • Preferred: Certified Records Manager is preferred.
    • Preferred: Certified Licensing Official (CLO) or the ability to become a certified within three years of continuous employment. Certified Licensing Official (CLO) through the National Bureau of Revenue and Regulatory Officials is preferred.

    Education:
    Bachelors

    Experience:
    1-4 years

    Qualifications:
    Required: Bachelor's degree in Public or Business Administration including specialized courses in records management, business management, or computer technology and four to six years? experience in managing systems or records projects, or an approved equivalent.
    Required: High level administrative experience with two years' experience in a City or County Clerk's Department/Office performing in a similar role or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
    Preferred: Certified Records Manager (ICRM), ERM Master (AIIM), and ECM Master (AIIM)
