Being a Reinsurance Specialist performs reconciliation of premium billing statements and DAC tax calculations and maintenance of various reinsurance operations. Researches and resolves the more complex cases and provides guidance to others. Additionally, Reinsurance Specialist may review work performed by others and train new staff. Works towards industry designations (e.g., FLMI, ARA, ACS, etc.). Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Job Summary
The Reinsurance Accountant will work closely with the Accounting & Finance team to ensure accurate accounting within Orion180’s growth-focused reinsurance function. This position will assist the accounting team in administering all aspects of all reinsurance agreements in accordance with treaty parameters and ensuring proper accounting treatment for all reinsurance transactions. This position is responsible for creating journal entries for premiums, allowances, claims recoverable, and updating and maintaining the parameters to support business needs. This role will entail frequent communication with third-party reinsurers, Finance Team members, and auditors to ensure that Orion180 is fulfilling all requirements of its reinsurance agreements.

Physical Demands
While performing general office duties for this position, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand and/or walk around (including the use of stairs). Other demands include the ability to openly communicate with others by talking, listening, and reading, being able to lift light objects (<25lbs), and using standard office equipment such as computers, printers, and phones. In addition, there is an occasional need to bend, twist or stoop to open/close cabinets, and reach for files or other standard office-type objects.
Work Environment
The office environment is quiet and, in a temperature, controlled setting with random adjustments in noise or temperature due to conversations, unscheduled maintenance repairs to the building or its interior offices, or unpredictable situations due to weather or other acts beyond company control.
