Reinsurance Specialist performs routine reinsurance administrative duties, such as maintaining records, processing and verifying new business. Organizes the preparation of monthly and annual reports and ensures reinsurance information has been recorded accurately. Being a Reinsurance Specialist performs reconciliation of premium billing statements and DAC tax calculations and maintenance of various reinsurance operations. Researches and resolves the more complex cases and provides guidance to others. Additionally, Reinsurance Specialist may review work performed by others and train new staff. Works towards industry designations (e.g., FLMI, ARA, ACS, etc.). Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Reinsurance Specialist gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. ASCEND is currently looking to fill the position of Accounting Specialist. The Accounting Specialist will play a critical role in partnering with the accounting team to complete general accounting duties for the agency.

Responsibilities include, but aren't limited to, the following:
· Post daily cash receipts
· Process billing for Agency’s residential programs
· Process bi-weekly payroll
· Perform petty cash audits
· Prepare various statistical reports for management as needed.
· Review and maintain accounts receivable reports.
· Maintain checkbook accounts and reconcile to General Ledger.
· Manage A/R for Agency's Community Residence Program.
· Perform monthly bank reconciliation.
· Work on special projects as needed.
· Cross-train on essential job functions within the department.
Work effectively with Administration to ensure productive program operations.
Qualifications:
· Associates Degree and/or 3-5 years’ experience in the Accounting Field.
· Prior experience with Microsoft Office products, accounting software and automated payroll systems required.
· Valid NYS driver’s license acceptable to Agency insurance standards.
· Must be of good character and background and display an affinity for working with people with mental illness and/or co-occurring disorders.
Must have the ability to work independently, have good problem solving skills and have the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
