POSITION DESCRIPTION:
This role is responsible for the expansion and retention of new and existing business banking relationships to include loans, deposits and cash management services within the Bank’s delineated Assessment Area and throughout the Connecticut marketplace. The primary objective of the Business Banking Relationship Officer role is to be responsible for an assigned portfolio of loan and deposit relationships with small to medium sized business clients. Solicit new business; manage risk and credit decisions; and service existing clients through the bank’s relationship management program. Work with branch and lending partners to effectively sell to the business customer and cross-sell other bank products. Prospective customers will mostly be self-sourced or come from external referral sources, including centers of influence. Majority of travel will be allocated to prospecting activities. Responsible for all phases of the customer service and sales life cycle including lead generation, utilization of relevant systems, following policies, leveraging product knowledge, assessing credit needs of prospects and building out depth in current markets as well as building out opportunities in new markets and industry segments. Incumbent is responsible for Bank performance as it pertains to profitable loan and deposit growth, non-interest income and customer satisfaction.

EDUCATION REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree or 3-5 years of relevant work experience.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 3 plus years of experience of similar or related experience. Ability to read and analyze financial statements and tax returns. Sound credit skills are necessary to evaluate loan requests. Strong understanding of cash management, trade services products offered to business banking customers and ability to identify sales opportunities for those product sets. The ability to interpret reports and think creatively about solutions for new products, existing product integration and new programs/projects is critical. Must demonstrate a willingness to learn in an evolving department. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint along with software utilized by the department and Bank overall.
MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITY: Has no supervisory/managerial responsibilities.
