Candidate is applying for an Agile Change & Release Manager position. The candidate will own the Change and Release Management lifecycle for a very important portfolio of applications within the Federal Government. The day to day activities will include scheduling, coordinating and managing releases across a portfolio of multiple applications. The releases will be inclusive of application updates, operating system patches, security improvements, hardware upgrades, projects and programs
Responsibilities and Duties
The Agile Change & release Manager will be responsible for the following processes and duties • Leads and coordinates system release planning, scheduling and deployment management at a portfolio level. This includes baseline management, version controls, implementation plans, communication plans, software upgrades, operational change requests. • Execution of deployment plans, performing and managing Go/No Go checklists, resourcing and deployment coverage management and communications to stakeholders. • Leads configuration management using best practices and standards to assist in deployment planning as well as coordination efforts with the portfolio teams and the enterprise. • Works with agile teams to prepare and execute a change delivery & release management framework that allows forward planning change & release windows and cycles across the portfolio. • Produces deployment and implementation plans and coordinates release content and effort based on the application release schedule, service request backlog, pending service requests, third party applications and/or operating system updates • Manages relationships and coordinates work between different teams at different locations to ensure release details and schedules are communicated across the portfolio effectively. • Negotiates, plans and manages all release activities while minimizing risks by resolving issues that affect change & release scope, schedule and quality • Researches new change and release management related technology and methodologies to identify continual improvement opportunities. • Completes activities such as training needs analysis and determines appropriate training for staff in preparation for technology-based change initiatives and conducts training on new processes where needed. Minimum Qualifications • 8-10 years of experience in Agile Change & Release Management • 5-7 years of SDLC Release Management experience. • Excellent time management, task planning and prioritization skills. • Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams toward task completion • Advanced written and verbal communication skills are a must • Strong written and oral communication skills. • Able to adapt quickly to changing client requirements. • Able to work effectively with minimal supervision. • Ability to manage multiple/concurrent releases in development Preferred Qualifications • Familiarity with CI systems like Jenkins • Familiar with work cycle management tools like RTC • Familiar with containerization platforms, such as Docker • Familiar with Urban Code Deploy and Urban Code Release • Understanding of Complex Information Technology systems and support practices Education/Certification Requirement • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience. • Agile Certification such as SAFe Agilist preferred • ITIL Certification preferred Working Hours
