Job Title: Catholic Religious Education Coordinator.

• Location: Seaside Chapel, located at 357 Titan Road, Patrick SFB, FL 32925
• Schedule: Minimum 20 hours per week, including some evenings and weekends. Exact schedule will be determined in coordination with the Catholic Priest and Lead Catholic Chaplain.

Job Overview:

The Catholic Religious Education Coordinator will plan, organize, and conduct religious education programs for children, youth, and adults. Key responsibilities include administering religious education curriculum, recruiting and training volunteers, and coordinating annual programs like Vacation Bible School.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Administer age-appropriate CRE curriculum and sacramental preparation in accordance with AMS guidelines.
• Plan monthly K-12 classes including curriculum selection, classroom assignment, material orders.
• Coordinate annual programs like Christmas Program and Vacation Bible School involving 50 volunteers.
• Provide initial and ongoing catechist training covering AMS certification requirements, teaching methods, etc.
• Recruit 15-20 volunteers annually through the application process including reference and background checks.
• Maintain electronic and paper student, volunteer and program records for reporting purposes.
• Create and distribute quarterly newsletters, flyers and social media posts to promote programs.
• Oversee annual budget of $5,000 from chapel funds for materials, activities and volunteer recognition.
• Attend weekly staff meetings and quarterly Advisory Council meetings. Submits reports and data as required.

Qualifications:

• Possess a bachelor’s degree in education or related field or equivalent experience. A bachelor’s degree in religious studies or theology is preferable but not required.
• Must be an approved Catechist teacher for the Archdiocese for the Military Services Catechist certification or ability to complete training and exam within first 6 months.
• Shall be a practicing Roman Catholic and present a letter of good standing from their local Catholic Priest stating they are currently practicing Catholic in their Parish and are in good standing with the Catholic Church.
• Minimum 2 years experience coordinating religious education programming.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications, database management and communication technologies.
• Strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to pass extensive government background check for work with children/youth.
• Flexibility for occasional evening/weekend hours as programs require.
