Details:
This position is housed in Jackson County and will plan, develop, and implement a plan of work based on stakeholder identified needs for agriculture education in this county. In addition, this position will work in conjunction and cooperation with the staff located at the Southwest Research and Extension Center (SWREC) as a Regional Agronomist. Work in connection with SWREC will focus on Cropping Systems and will include, but is not limited to, carrying out Extension/Research field trials on the station and within the Southwest corner of the state in cooperation with or at the request of county extension programs. Results of work at SWREC and other off-station trials will be utilized in support of Agronomic programs. Beyond the county assignment, this position will provide Agronomic program support to surrounding counties including Beckham, Caddo, Comanche, Cotton, Greer, Harmon, Kiowa, Tillman, and Washita. This position will work cooperatively with other area, district, and state extension specialists.

Position Qualifications:

Required:

Bachelors in Agriculture or related field with 5 years related experience

Valid Drivers License

Demonstrated ability to listen and communicate effectively, and to foster a professional image of OCES by displaying a positive view of the organization both internally and externally. *Demonstrated ability to adapt well to changing priorities, situations and day-to-day demands. *Demonstrated ability and willingness to effectively manage time and resources.
Must possess strong writing, communication and organizational skills.
Commitment to continue personal professional development.
Evidence of ability to build and maintain relationships and work effectively with clientele, advisory groups, volunteer leaders and other professionals, etc.
Demonstrated competency and effective use of computing and computer-based communications technology.
Demonstrated leadership ability in designing, promoting, presenting and evaluating educational programs and the desire to program to reach diverse audiences.

Preferred:

Master's in Agriculture

Previous experience in Cooperative Extension or closely related work is desirable.
