The OCES represents a federal, state, and county partnership working since 1914.     This position is located in the Sequoyah County Extension Office, Sallisaw, Oklahoma. The county Extension director provides administrative leadership for all aspects of the county Extension program operations including: personnel management, staff development, affirmative action, civil rights, fiscal management, budget development, inclusion and diversity, facilities and equipment, technology, marketing, and public relations. The county Extension director facilitates efforts of his/her staff regarding county program planning, implementation and evaluation. This is done in addition to the Extension educator duties.

    The county Extension director is administratively accountable to the district Extension director for all assigned administrative and supervisory matters in the county and is responsible for compliance with all policies, procedures, and regulations relating to the operation of the total Extension program in the county. The county Extension director serves at the discretion of the district Extension director. The term of the assignment is indefinite unless withdrawn by the district Extension director.     Duties: Participates as a cohesive team member to involve local clientele and advisory groups to plan, implement, and evaluate the total Cooperative Extension county program. Extension educators comply with all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines, etc., related to equal opportunity, civil rights, and affirmative action. Continuation of employment is based upon need, performance and available county funding.

    Position Qualifications:


    Required:

    Bachelor's in Agric., Fam. & Con. Sci., Educ., Soc. Sci. or closely related.

    Base annual salary for entry level educators who have a master’s degree is $40,000 and $36,000 with a bachelor’s degree. Starting salary is based upon education and prior relevant work experience.

    Extension educators hired with only a bachelor’s degree are encouraged to work toward completion of an approved master’s degree.

    Valid Drivers License


    Demonstrated ability to listen and communicate effectively, and to foster a professional image of OCES by displaying a positive view of the organization both internally and externally. *Demonstrated ability to adapt well to changing priorities, situations and day-to-day demands. *Demonstrated ability and willingness to effectively manage time and resources.
    Must possess strong writing, communication and organizational skills.
    Commitment to continue personal professional development.
    Evidence of ability to build and maintain relationships and work effectively with clientele, advisory groups, volunteer leaders and other professionals, etc.
    Demonstrated competency and effective use of computing and computer-based communications technology.
    Demonstrated leadership ability in designing, promoting, presenting and evaluating educational programs and the desire to program to reach diverse audiences.

    Preferred:

    Master's in Agric., Fam. & Con. Sci., Educ., Soc. Sci. or closely related.

    Previous experience in Cooperative Extension or closely related work is desirable.
