    REPORTS TO: Pastor
    CLASSIFICATION: Full-time, Exempt
    The DRE is responsible for the growth, organization, administration, and implementation of
    religious education and formation in fulfillment of the catechetical mission of the parish. This is
    done through collaboration with the pastor, parish staff, and the Diocese of Knoxville. The DRE
    is a full-time position that includes management of catechetical programs for grades
    Kintergarden-5, First Reconciliation, First Communion, Confirmation, and RCIA.
    Supervise and Coordinate parish catechetical programs, grades Kindergarten-5:
    • Identifies and oversees curriculums for grades Kintergarden-5.
    • Purchase/provide materials and resources.
    • Recruitment and placement of catechists.
    • Provides training for catechists.
    • Offer a weekly religious education program for children.
    • Supervises all grades Kintergarden-5 programs on-site.
    • Implements Safe Environment policies and procedures and oversees CMG.
    • Establishes calendar and scheduling.
    • Oversees registration process and maintains student records.
    • Be able to meet with parents as needed.
    • Oversees, coordinates, and schedules sacramental preparation.
    • Coordinates liturgical/sacramental functions for First Reconciliation, First Communion,
    and Confirmation.
    • Creates handbooks and communications for parents and catechists.
    RCIA
    • Preparations for sacramental candidates through RCIA.
    • Purchase/provide materials and resources.
    • Recruitment and placement of catechists.
    • Establishes calendar and scheduling.
    • Coordinates liturgical/sacramental functions for RCIA.
    General responsibilities:
    • Oversees program expenditures.
    • Communicates with the parish through bulletin, website, and social media.
    • Attends Diocesan meetings and training sessions for DRE.
    • Meets with the pastor at regular intervals to discuss necessary administrative and
    catechetical matters.
    • Attends all staff meetings.
    Qualifications:
    • Must be a practicing Roman Catholic in good standing with the Church.
    • Must have a passion for the evangelization and faith formation of children and adults.
    • Must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively orally and
    verbally with students, parents, volunteers and across the parish.
    • Must have strong leadership, administrative, planning, and organizational skills.
    • Must have technology skills, especially social media, and basic computer skills including
    Microsoft Office.
    • Must be able to recruit, manage and work with various volunteers leading religious initiatives.
    • Must be able to work well as a team member of the parish staff and the Diocese of Knoxville as
    necessary.
    • Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality.
    • Ability to work with multiple cultures.
