    Position Summary


    The Hill School seeks a full-time Instructor of Religious Studies and Philosophy for the 2024-2025 school year. Working closely with other members of the department, this teacher will be responsible for classroom instruction, communication with students, parents, and student advisers, and remaining current on educational practices and issues.

    More specifically, responsibilities for this position include (but are not limited to):

    • Teaching four assigned sections within the Religious Studies and Philosophy Department, including the department's core offerings in World Religions;
    • Writing the official school course, advisory, residential, and co-curricular comments on students throughout the year;
    • Participating in professional development opportunities;
    • Serving the school's co-curricular program for two trimesters as either a coach or program leader;
    • Participating in the school's student life program as an adviser and by providing residential or supervisory duty on periodic weeknights and weekends;
    • Writing recommendations to college and various programs on behalf of individual students; and
    • Meeting with parents as appropriate.


    Responsibilities and Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in Religious Studies, Theology, Philosophy, or a related field
    • Familiarity with a variety of religious and philosophical teachings and traditions and a commitment to the academic discipline of Religious Studies
    • Ability to teach several courses within the Department's course offerings
    • Experience working closely with adolescents
    • Ability to serve in the School's co-curricular program as a coach or program leader
    • Excellent communication skills
