Rio Grande School is an interdisciplinary school that serves students from three years old to grade six, with class sizes ranging from 14-21 students, a 6:1 student-educator ratio, and a total school population of 170. Located at the base of the Sangre De Cristo Mountains on five acres of high desert, surrounded by arroyos and hiking trails, Rio Grande School is perfectly situated for students to engage with both the natural wonders of the outdoors and the academic challenges of the classroom. The school is seeking candidates for the following position(s) beginning in August 2024:

Associate Educator (20 hours)

The Associate Educator at Rio Grande School is a half-time, 10-month position beginning in August 2024.

Compensation for the above positions will be determined by years of teaching experience and highest degree earned. Qualified individuals ideally have, at a minimum, a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a minimum of two years of experience in the classroom.

Under the direction of the Lead Educator, the Associate Educator will support classroom instruction and management in the following areas:

• Instructing students individually and in groups, using a variety of instructional strategies; adapting teaching methods and instructional materials to meet the varying needs and interests of students;
• Implementing accommodations and modifications to classroom curriculum to meet student learning needs;
• Collaborating with co-curricular educators to implement integrated curriculum; preparing materials and classrooms for class activities;
• Enforcing rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom they are responsible.
