Reporter researches a variety of news stories through interviews, observation, and library and/or online resources. Determines tone and intended audience of story. Being a Reporter investigates and writes a variety of simple news stories. May require a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Reporter typically reports to a supervisor. KPC Media, a multi-newspaper organization in northeast Indiana, is looking for two reporters for general assignment reporting in our Angola office.
The successful candidates will be an individual with the ability to:
–Develop rapport with a variety of sources on a range of story topics.
–Exercise good news judgment, breaking stories outside of news releases.
–Be productive and skilled at reporting accurately and writing compelling daily, enterprise, features, and in-depth stories that inform and engage and resonate with readers.
–Be a team player who can work well with other reporters, editors, and others
on staff.
The candidate should have an interest in social media.
Experience with spreadsheets and databases is a plus.
Bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field and at least two years of daily newspaper reporting experience,
