    The Hays Post coverage footprint is large, and you will be integral in expanding our coverage into underserved communities. Your beat, among other daily duties, will be reporting on business, education, government, law enforcement and writing general features. Video and photography skills will put you ahead of the pack. Your writing will not only be featured on Hays Post, but broader stories are often featured on many of Eagle's other Post sites throughout Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska. Our local on-air radio news presence is also an integral part of our connection to the community. You’ll prepare and anchor daily newscasts on our four Eagle Radio stations and be available to cover breaking news and weather events.

    Responsibilities:

    • Ensure reliable coverage of Hays-area local news, sports and community events
    • Broadcast news coverage
    • Publish text, visual and audio content to HaysPost.com
    • Help maintain a growing social media presence
    • Cover area meetings, general news, breaking news and severe weather as assigned


    Preferred Experience:

    • Minimum 2 years of experience, including news writing and/or on-air broadcasting
    • Knowledge of social media platforms and digital publishing systems
    • Knowledge of radio automation and production systems
    • Independent problem-solving skills
    • Excellent communication skills


    Compensation:

    Compensation is commensurate with experience along with a competitive benefits package, including health insurance, 401(k), paid vacation and Employee Stock Ownership Plan.
