Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Work closely with various laboratory animal specimens.
Hands-on experience in cell/molecular biology.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Prior experience working with mice or rats is preferred.

Responsibilities:
Manages day-to-day planning and troubleshooting of cell culture and animal studies to achieve project goals. When issues arise, work with the PI to adjust the project strategy.
Performs DEXA BMD and Micro-CT to measure bone mass of mice.
Performs culture and analysis of rodent and human skeletal cells.
Performs or assists with surgical and non-surgical procedures involving mice.
Performs standard molecular biology assays (e.g., qRT-PCR; Western blot; reporter assays) on cell culture and animal tissue samples.
Performs phenotyping techniques (e.g., micro-computed tomography; histology) of animal tissue samples.
Presents project updates at lab meetings.
Helps prepare manuscripts and conference abstracts describing study findings.
Helps provide mentorship to students rotating through the laboratory.
Prioritizes workload, schedules experimentation, and identifies problems with experimental plans and approaches.
Addresses problems independently daily and reports significant issues as needed to the PI. Major concerns are reported as they are identified.
Assists the PI with supervision of lab expenditures to ensure adherence to budget projections.
Interacts daily with the PI and other lab members.
Coordinates activities of the PI's lab with those of other labs in the Division of Endocrinology.
Performs other duties as assigned.
