    Team Description:
    The AI Foundations team at Capital One is responsible for bringing our vision for AI to life. We work collaboratively with academia, product, technology, and business leaders to apply state-of-the-art AI research to our business.

    Roles and Responsibilities:
    - Collaborate with cross-functional teams of data scientists, software engineers, machine learning engineers, and product managers to develop AI-powered products for enhanced customer interactions.
    - Utilize a wide range of technologies, such as Pytorch, AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, Lightning, VectorDBs, etc., to extract meaningful insights from vast volumes of numeric and textual data.
    - Lead the development of AI foundation models across various stages, including design, training, evaluation, validation, and implementation.
    - Engage in high-impact applied research to integrate the latest AI developments into the next generation of customer experiences.
    - Effectively communicate the complexity of your work in simple terms to align with business objectives.

    - Innate curiosity and a continuous drive to explore emerging technologies and their applications.
    - A creative mindset, with the ability to tackle complex problems and challenge convention.

    - Technical proficiency in open-source languages and experience developing AI models using cloud computing platforms.
    - Deep understanding of AI methodologies and experience building large-scale deep learning models.
    - Proven track record in delivering models at scale.
    - Experience in delivering code solutions within existing products.
    - Demonstrated research capabilities, such as first-author publications or projects.
    - Ability to independently drive research projects and choose impactful research problems.

    Basic Qualifications:
    - Ph.D. with at least 6 years of experience in Applied Research or M.S. with at least 8 years of experience in Applied Research.
    - At least 5 years of people leadership experience.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    - Ph.D. in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
    - In-depth knowledge and experience in Natural Language Processing (NLP) or Geometric Deep Learning.
    - Expertise in areas such as training optimization, self-supervised learning, robustness, explainability, reinforcement learning, and high-frequency trading.
    - Proficiency in fine-tuning large language models.
    - Strong background in data preparation, including tokenization
