Research Fellow develops the strategy and vision to position a project from inception through completion; creates teams and collaborations that understand the project's direction. Communicates direction through words or actions to inspire team members to reach goals. Being a Research Fellow also responsible for planning and budgeting. Requires a PhD in their field of specialty. Additionally, Research Fellow typically reports to a top management. The Research Fellow manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Research Fellow typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     Under the general supervisor of the Department Director, the Postdoctoral Research Fellow is a mentored position with the goal of developing an independent scientist at the John Wayne Cancer Institute. The training vehicle involves work focused on mechanisms of innate and adaptive immunity as they pertain to anti-tumor immune responses. Cancer models may include melanoma, breast cancer or others. Projects may include the investigation of the role of microbes, adjuvants, host factors, and microbiomes in enhancing anti-tumor immune responses. Research utilizes cellular immunology and molecular biology techniques and systems biology approaches.

    Required qualifications:

    • Ph.D. Or
    • M.D.
    • Upon hire: Human subjects research training, certification
    • Significant research experience that led to publications in quality peer-reviewed journals in any area of the biomedical sciences.
    • 4 years Experience in basic science research laboratory working on research projects related to cancer or immunology.
