Job Summary
The Grant and Prospect Research Specialist is responsible for managing the entire grant process as well as providing prospect research to members of the development team. The position manages a grantor portfolio in Salesforce with an annual fundraising goal. Using the best technology available today, the position provides dashboard reports, prospecting data, and analysis as well as maintains all solicitation licenses and other compliance requirements. This position also provides essential support to other operation team positions.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Prospect Research
- Conduct comprehensive research on individuals, corporations, and foundations to identify potential major donors, sponsors, and partners, particularly focused on broadening donor audience statewide and in neighboring states. Conduct grant research.
- Utilize various tools, databases, and resources to gather information on prospects, including wealth indicators, philanthropic history, and connections.
- Analyze and evaluate gathered data to create detailed profiles and briefings for use by fundraisers and leadership.
- Collaborate with the development team to prioritize prospects, assisting with cultivation and solicitation strategies.
- Stay updated on industry trends, fundraising best practices, and changes in the philanthropic landscape to inform prospect research strategies.
- Support prospecting efforts for specific campaigns, events, and initiatives as needed.
Compliance
- Responsible for maintaining/renewing all necessary solicitation lisenses.
- Update and maintain CHA’s presence on various charitable sites. E.g. GuideStar, ProPublica, Charity Navigator
Grants
- Coordinate with the Cultivation and QM teams to gather grants data/documentation.
- Create and update Master Grant records in Salesforce.
- Maintain grants documentation files, scanning and uploading documents to the appropriate systems.
- Maintain grants management reports and dashboards and communicate their results.
- Manage grants application submission and reporting schedules and send out regular notifications.
- Provide grants information to the Cultivation team and other departments when requested.
Other Support
- Become sufficiently knowledgeable about our software systems, processes, and procedures to provide backup for other operations team positions.
- Work with cultivation staff, program staff, and finance as necessary to clarify donor intentions or any other questions related to contributions.
- Contribute to department meetings; follow department processes and procedures.
- Other tasks as requested by supervisor.

Requirements
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or 2-3 years of experience in a related field.
- Salesforce and iWave experience are preferred.
- Nonprofit experience is ideal but not required.
- Prospect research experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of basic bookkeeping principles preferred.
- Experience in data entry and/or database coordination preferred.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and be insurable by agency insurance carrier.
- Must submit to and pass pre-employment checks, criminal records check and DMV/MVR check.
