    Position Description:

    This individual will supervise the R&D technicians that build our prototypes, jigs & fixtures, and in-field work. This person will manage, verify, and document prototype builds. Support manufacturing, testing, and purchasing as needed. Review and manage documentation and issues lists before submitting.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    Supervise the R&D floor technicians

    • Manage, verify, and collect documentation from the R&D technicians
    • Review and assist with documentation for completeness, organize, and submit
    • Assist technicians with technical questions
    • Complete employee performance reviews and assessments

    Supervise the building of prototypes, jigs & fixtures, along with in-field work

    • Execute the builds to the schedule
    • Review the resources needed for NPD projects

    Communicate concerns and assist in solutions (area, crane capacity, manpower, etc.)

    • Schedule and communicate with production for needed resources (warehouse, wash, paint, alternate work areas, etc.)
    • Verify all materials are available for build
    • Follow-up on shortages for prototype build
    • Prepare documentation for releasing new project to the floor (i.e. Weld, Decal, Hydraulic, Electrical, Grease, Oil tube routing and length, Issues list)
    • Generate and manage issues list derived from the prototype build process
    • Prepare and complete prototype check off list
    • Complete Service Work Orders

    Manage, verify and document all changes to prototype equipment in the field

    Organize and schedule service calls

    Supervise, verify, and provide resources for testing as needed

    • Verify technicians are performing work to the test plan as needed
    • Assist with scheduling field/test service calls
    • Assist the test engineer with verifying and documenting changes on prototypes in the field as needed

    Assist in resolving and documenting production floor issues

    • Review/research production floor issues to discover the root cause of concern
    • Work with the parties involved to best understand the issue to allow them to make the best possible resolution

    Verify R&D credit logs of the technicians and make sure they have been submitted

    Assist in Solidworks and AutoCAD prints as needed

    Run reports like Where Used, Material Requirements, Cost Projection, and Stock Status

    Meet scheduled deadlines

    Continuously review ways to make the department more efficient and more accurate

    Position Requirements:

    • High School Degree required
    • Five years of experience working with mechanical systems
    • 2 years of experience supervising others
    • Experience in AutoCAD & SolidWorks
    • Have a good understanding of the manufacturing software, and able to navigate efficiently for information

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

    • Good understanding of engineering functions and engineering drawings
    • Experience working with Excel, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, & Windows
    • Good verbal and written communications skills
    • Self-motivated, who can work effectively with minimal supervision
    • Results driven and action oriented
    • Experience with Business Software
    • Work well with team members and co-workers

    Wage and Hours Information:

    • Monday through Thursday, 10-hour days, and Fridays as needed
    • Starting wage is $29.06 per hour
    • Wage is dependent on your experience and skills set
    • This position will report to the Engineering Manager
